Mechanical & Electrical Estimator | Allied Resources Technical Consultants (ARTC) About the Position Allied Resources Technical Consultants (ARTC) is seeking a skilled Mechanical & Electrical Estimator to support capital and infrastructure projects typically ranging from $10K to $2M . This role is ideal for an estimator with hands‑on experience in industrial or controlled‑environment facilities who is ready to take ownership of estimates without being positioned as a senior or lead estimator. The estimator will support projects involving utilities, HVAC, process piping, power distribution, and supporting systems—working closely with engineering, operations, EH&S, procurement, and project management teams throughout preconstruction and execution. Job Responsibilities Develop detailed mechanical and electrical cost estimates for projects including utility upgrades, HVAC systems, chilled water, process and utility piping, gas systems, power distribution, lighting, controls, and limited structural scope. Review drawings, specifications, P&IDs, and site conditions to generate accurate quantity takeoffs, labor hours, equipment needs, and subcontractor scopes. Build unit‑rate and assembly‑based estimates, applying labor productivity factors specific to cleanroom and controlled‑environment work. Prepare bills of materials (BOM), subcontractor scopes of work, pricing summaries, and detailed cost worksheets for proposals and internal budget reviews. Solicit, review, and level vendor and subcontractor pricing; assist in maintaining a qualified vendor and historical pricing database. Identify project risks, contingencies, escalation considerations, and schedule impacts; clearly document assumptions and exclusions. Coordinate with engineering, procurement, EH&S, operations, and project management to validate scope, clarify design intent, and resolve estimate discrepancies. Support value engineering and cost‑reduction efforts by proposing alternate materials, routing approaches, or construction methods while maintaining contamination and quality requirements. Enter and manage estimate data within ERP or estimating software; follow established estimating standards, templates, and labor rate structures. Provide estimating support during pre‑bid reviews, procurement activities, change‑order pricing, and post‑bid reconciliations. Ensure estimates account for cleanroom gowning productivity, limited‑access work conditions, permitting, safety requirements, and protection of ongoing operations. Assist with preparation of project budgets, capital requests, and cost forecasts for leadership review. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field preferred; equivalent estimating experience will be considered. Typically 4–8 years of experience estimating mechanical and/or electrical construction projects. Experience with industrial, life sciences, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, or other controlled‑environment facilities strongly preferred. Solid understanding of construction means and methods, labor productivity, subcontractor pricing, and cost drivers for MEP systems. Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and P&IDs. Proficiency with estimating software, spreadsheets, and ERP systems. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple estimates concurrently. Effective communicator capable of working cross‑functionally with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
