The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation of hospital-based clinical experience, demonstrating the ability to perform high-quality diagnostic imaging in a fast-paced, acute care environment.The successful candidate will possess advanced proficiency in the following areas:Obstetric & Maternal-Fetal Medicine (OB/ MFM ) UltrasoundPerforming detailed fetal anatomical surveys, growth assessments, and biophysical profilesSupporting MFM specialists with high-risk pregnancy evaluations and fetal Doppler studiesDemonstrating expertise in first, second, and third trimester screening and monitoring protocolsConducting third trimester assessments including fetal presentation, placental localization, amniotic fluid evaluation, and fetal well-being studiesPerforming complete third trimester scans inclusive of fetal biometry, interval growth, fetal anatomy review, and maternal cervical length assessmentsVascular UltrasoundConducting arterial and venous duplex studies of upper and lower extremitiesPerforming carotid, renal artery Doppler, and abdominal duplex imagingInterpreting hemodynamic waveforms and flow patterns with accuracyGeneral UltrasoundExecuting comprehensive abdominal, pelvic, thyroid, and soft tissue examinationsAdapting scanning techniques for diverse patient populations including pediatric and critical care patientsAssist in all image-guided ultrasound procedures in collaboration with the clinical and procedural care teamHospital Experience RequirementsMinimum of 3-5 years of hospital-based ultrasound experience preferredDemonstrated ability to work collaboratively with radiologists, physicians, and multidisciplinary care teamsProficiency in PACS systems, electronic health records, and imaging documentation standards (Cerner Electronic Health Record experience preferred)Banner Estrella Medical Center was built in 2005 in west Phoenix to meet the health care needs of a growing West Valley community. We encourage the use of such therapies as pet therapy, aromatherapy, spiritual care and Reiki Therapy.POSITION SUMMARYThis position performs procedures by following and verifying referring providers' orders. Uses independent judgment and applies learned methodologies according to established policy and procedures for 2 Ultrasound certifications.CORE FUNCTIONS1. Performs all exams by following and verifying referring providers' orders. Adheres to established protocols and provides all pertinent patient information utilized by Radiologist for complete dictation. Uses independent judgement and applies learned methodologies according to established policy and procedures for all ultrasound exams. Scanning competencies should include all patient ages, acuity levels and classes, independently and without quality issues. Performs problem solving, triages orders and effectively communicates findings with Radiologist. Produces efficient images with high quality output. Performs ultrasound guided procedures and works closely with radiologist or provider.2. Educates patients and families regarding procedure and/or treatment to be performed. Demonstrates professional behavior and conduct in all interactions. Fosters teamwork, ensures efficient use of resources and advocates for quality patient outcomes which aid in diagnosis and care plan.3. Serves as a subject matter expert within their 2 registries. May present at team meetings and/or participate in other opportunities to improve quality. Performs quality control checks on images and equipment as requested.4. Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements. Performs troubleshooting as needed and notifies appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance. Facilitates and follows up on repairs and maintenance as needed on equipment and supplies. Maintains a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors. Adheres to safety policies.5. Consistently documents findings in a professional and clear manner. Follows standardized protocols without variation. Captures high quality images in the standardized format. Ensures patient questions are answered in a timely manner. Possesses experience needed to decipher between incorrect and correct order. Advocates on behalf of patient to ensure exam performed will provide a diagnostic answer supporting continued care.6. Demonstrates competence in performing prescribed invasive/interventional procedures if applicable and in accordance with established policies. Maintains proficiency and competencies signed off for all studies related to certifications. Provides technical guidance to less experienced technologists. May serve as a preceptor to train new staff.7. Accountable for the ethical, legal, professional and certification responsibilities related to the practice. This includes maintaining confidentiality of all work information.8. Helps facilitate efficient workflows in the department through patient triage and prioritization. Monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and material to facilitate uninterrupted services. Continuously supports modality and department initiatives created by leadership for expedited patient throughput.9. Internal customers: All levels of medical imaging and nursing management and staff, medical staff, and all other members of the interdisciplinary health care team. External Customers: regulatory and health agencies, patients, and family membersMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSRequires national certification in two areas of specialty from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). BLS certification required.This position requires clinical knowledge typically achieved with 3-5 years of experience.Must demonstrate effective communication skills, human relations skills, ability to analyze data and solve problems.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSAdditional related education and/or experience preferred.EEO Statement:
