Travel Nursing Job Details

• Schedule: Typically Monday through Friday, approximately 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.; start and end times may vary based on the operating room schedule
• Shift Duration: 8-hour day shifts
• Shifts per Week: Typically 5 shifts per week
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
• Call Requirement: Call approximately 1–2 times per week and at least every third weekend; holiday call may be required if needed
• Call Response Time: 30 minutes
• Electronic Medical Record: Epic
• Dress Code: Scrubs provided

Operating Room RN Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Iowa
• At least 1 year of professional nursing experience
• Operating room and perioperative nursing experience with orthopedic and general surgical procedures
• Experience with C-section procedures
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
• Ability to provide pre-operative, post-anesthesia care unit (PACU), and circulating support
• Scrub experience preferred; please be prepared to describe scrub skills
• Ability to respond to the operating room within 30 minutes while on call
• Flexibility to adapt to changing surgical schedules and rotating call responsibilities
• First-time travel nurses may be considered

Travel Operating Room Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care in the pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-anesthesia care areas
• Serve as a circulating nurse for a variety of surgical cases
• Apply strong orthopedic, general surgery, and C-section skills in the operating room
• Support surgical procedures involving a broad range of specialties, excluding head, heart, and back procedures
• Assist with cases performed in operating and endoscopy suites, including pain and cataract cases as scheduled
• Complete patient assessments, surgical preparation, patient monitoring, documentation, and post-operative care
• Collaborate effectively with surgeons, CRNAs, operating room technicians, and the broader healthcare team
• Float between pre-op and PACU as needed
• Participate in scheduled weeknight, weekend, and holiday call coverage
• Maintain a flexible, patient-focused approach in a changing surgical environment
