Subject:  Receptionist 

Responsible to:  Business Office Supervisor, Business Administration and Renal Dialysis Administrator

-Position opening is for: PART-TIME

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Receptionist is responsible for all incoming call for Desert Cities Dialysis. This position refers patients to Social Workers and other staff for further assistance. Each Receptionist and Information Coordinator takes primary and secondary responsibility for specific data research, input and reporting.

• Greet dialysis and medical office patients
• Check in patients, monitor wait times & facilitate timely transfer to treatment areas
• Answer phones in a timely and professional manner
• Call to arrange for transportation for those patients who need it.
• Track hospital patients and assign Acute patient care to nurses
• Communicate with physicians on behalf of other staff
• Assist with arrangements for New patients/Transfers/Transient Patients
• Make coffee, monitors, and straighten up reception area throughout the day
• Calls clinical staff and “911” as needed to assist patients, families, and drivers
• New patient intakes: Help new patients to understand and complete necessary paperwork ,  copy insurance cards, etc. Checklist financial file and give medically related paperwork to Medical Records
• Perform eligibility checks: For medical office patients in advance of appointments and for all dialysis patients on a monthly basis. Identify and report all patients without insurance or with any insurance changes and distribute report to appropriate staff. On a quarterly basis, perform and cross check government based benefits (Medicare and Medi-Cal and “Exchange” benefits) against each patient’s HMO eligibility.

• Perform Information and Data Coordinator tasks as assigned, subject to change and including but not limited to:

• Human Resources support (ongoing)
• Amgen Reports, Monthly
• Crown Web Reports, Monthly
• Network 18 Reports, Monthly
• Medication List updates, Weekly
• Patient Processing and Notification Forms:
  • New Patients, Form 2728
  • Expiring Patients, Form 2746
  • Transfers In and Out and Transients processing
  • Crown Web Verification of Crown Web PART Form

• Back up limited Medical Records duties with regard to patient intakes
• Perform all other tasks as needed or assigned

Education and or Experience:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Basic computer experience: Excel and Word preferred
• Medical reception experience preferred
• Bilingual/Multilingual preferred

Skills Required: 

• Good communication skills
• Ability to answer phone in a clear and professional manner
• Learn and use new computer programs, including but not limited to EHRs and practice management software
• Knowledge of safety policies and procedures

Physical Demands:

• Moderate sitting, standing and walking
• Repetitive arm and hand motions
• Computer data entry and usage
• Reach and grasp, push and pull objects
• Lift and/or move up to 25 lbs, sometimes over shoulder
