Miami, FL – Part‑Time with Benefits – 24 Anesthesia Unit Summary The Nurse Anesthetist administers anesthesia under medical direction for diversified surgical cases, utilizing inhalation, intravenous, spinal or rectal agents. Emphasis is on the skilled application of appropriate professional techniques, continuous review of anesthetized patients’ condition during surgery, and completion of remedial measures to counteract unfavorable clinical conditions. Incumbents are also responsible for immediate pre‑operative and post‑operative care during the introduction of and recovery from anesthesia. Work is performed in accordance with recognized professional principles and techniques. All procedures and techniques utilized during anesthesia for surgery are subject to supervision by the attending anesthesiologist assigned to that area. Responsibilities Participates and accurately documents patients pre‑anesthetic preparation and evaluation. Formulates a patient‑specific plan for anesthesia care in collaboration with the attending anesthesiologist. Implements, monitors, and adjusts patients’ physiologic condition as appropriate for type of anesthesia and specific patient needs. Recognizes abnormal patient response to anesthesia and adjunct medications; takes appropriate action. Demonstrates ability to work in a stressful environment by prioritizing and implementing corrective action based on the situation. Provides observation, monitoring, and resuscitation of patients en route to the recovery room or special care unit according to protocol. Provides concise, comprehensive anesthesia report to the recovery room or unit nurse according to protocol. Transfers the responsibility for care of the patient to other qualified providers post‑operatively to assure continuity of care and patient safety. Supports operating room procedures. Keeps patients informed of their medical condition and the course of treatment being prescribed. Functions independently in executing day‑to‑day operational and administrative management duties in the absence of the Chief CRNA. Participates in additional areas of responsibility within the expertise of the individual CRNA. Assumes responsibility for professional development of self and contributes to and assists with the professional development of others. Initiates search of anesthesia and related literature, suggests changes and improvements in patient care standards. Functions as a clinical educator for student registered nurse anesthetists. Follows all related unit‑specific policies and procedures, as detailed on the unit competency check‑list. Utilizes job and unit specific equipment as required. Experience Generally requires 1 to 3 years of related experience. Education Master’s degree in Nursing is required. Credentials Valid Florida licensed RN/CRNA or eligibility for licensure as CRNA/Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner. National Board Certification by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and any additional applicable life‑support certification for healthcare providers required upon hire with at least 6 months validity. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required. Must meet and maintain valid and current all unit‑specific and organizational skills/competencies, certifications/licensures, as required by regulatory and/or nursing standard of practice for the specialty. Must be able to carry objects weighing 21 to 50 pounds. Able to lift or move objects weighing 51 to 100 pounds with the use of appropriate devices.
