Help create accessible, high-impact learning experiences as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in the Stafford region. This contract position offers you the chance to make a meaningful difference across a diverse student body spanning PreK through 12th grade. With a district-wide role, you’ll work alongside supportive colleagues to provide individualized and consultative services, empowering students with visual impairments to thrive academically and socially. Key Qualifications:

• Active Virginia Department of Education Certification required
• Ability to complete the Virginia Department of Social Services background check (must begin this process immediately upon offer)
• TB test in compliance with state regulations
• Previous experience supporting students with visual impairments strongly preferred
• Confident in adapting materials and instruction for students with a wide variety of needs
• Collaborative approach to working with families, staff, and multidisciplinary teams
• Comfortable serving students from preschool through high school, adjusting supports as needed

Role Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct and consultative vision services to students as outlined in IEPs
• Adapt curriculum, provide accessible materials, and strategies for orientation and mobility with O&M specialists
• Conduct assessments and contribute to IEP meetings
• Communicate regularly with families and school teams regarding progress and strategies
• Collaborate with building staff to foster inclusive learning environments
• Maintain detailed records and ensure compliance with all district and state guidelines

This part-time role (.5 FTE) offers flexibility in scheduling and the exciting possibility of expanding to full-time, as you determine caseload needs. Qualified professionals may also be considered for virtual (VOCO) delivery, widening access and flexibility.
