Procurement Buyer

Position Summary:

The Buyer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing raw materials, components, machinery, and other operational supplies required for plant production and maintenance activities. This role ensures materials are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with quality standards while supporting efficient plant operations and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities:

• Review MRP (Material Requirements Planning) data and production schedules to create and manage Purchase Orders (POs) for raw materials, chemicals, components, and MRO supplies.
• Prepare, issue, and administer purchase orders and recurring purchase agreements.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, contracts, and delivery schedules to secure cost-effective purchasing agreements.
• Evaluate suppliers based on quality, reliability, delivery performance, and cost competitiveness.
• Conduct supplier performance reviews and site visits as needed to maintain strong vendor relationships.
• Monitor inventory levels to prevent shortages while minimizing excess inventory and supporting lean manufacturing initiatives.
• Track and expedite open purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery.
• Coordinate with suppliers and internal departments to resolve invoicing discrepancies, damaged goods, shipment errors, or quality concerns.
• Maintain accurate purchasing and supplier information within the ERP/SAP system, including lead times, pricing, and part numbers.
• Support continuous improvement and optimization of procurement processes and workflows.
• Collaborate with Application Engineering (AE) and cross-functional teams to support new product development initiatives.
• Serve as backup support for the Scheduler/Planner role as needed.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
• Maintain compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety standards.

Requirements:

• Minimum 3 years of purchasing or MRO procurement experience in a manufacturing or commercial environment.
• Experience with inventory control and supplier management.
• Strong negotiation, organizational, and meeting facilitation skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong mathematical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• SAP experience strongly preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
