Position Summary The Patient Engagement Manager is responsible for listening to and counseling patients and medical professionals, interpreting their specific needs and providing friendly, professional, and well‑informed answers. This position will work with patients, physician offices, partners, and insurance companies to case manage all steps required to gain access to therapy. Work Model Remote: Officially documented as working full‑time from home, with travel to Ultragenyx's offices or other locations on occasion as needed. Responsibilities Works closely with patients/families to case manage all steps required to gain access to therapy. Educates patients/families on reimbursement options. Acts as a liaison with medical offices. Works with specialty pharmacy and insurance companies to obtain reimbursement requirements information. Performs benefit investigations with insurance companies as required. Maintains case history for all assigned patients in the CRM system. Provides back‑up coverage for other Patient Engagement Managers (PEMs). Travels to required meetings and medical offices as necessary. Requirements 5 years of prior case management experience preferred. Ability to travel 20%. Prior reimbursement experience with ability to communicate complex reimbursement scenarios to patients and medical professionals preferred. Ability to problem‑solve complex reimbursement scenarios and recommend solutions. BA/BS in the life sciences or communications preferred. Ability to maintain composure and remain professional during difficult patient or medical calls. Individual must possess and portray strong emotional resilience. Ability to multitask, problem‑solve and work independently. Individual must possess extraordinary positive attitude, exceptional listening skills, and strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to handle sensitive information. Pay Range Typical annual salary range for this full‑time position: $111,000 USD – $137,100 USD.
