Job Summary and Qualifications


You Will:

• Perform histology and cytology procedures including specimen processing/fixation, cell block preparation, embedding, microtomy, slide preparation, routine stains, IHC and special stains, case organization in accordance with department procedures.
• Assure positive sample, block and slide identification
• Prepare and maintain reagents for routine stains and histology procedures.
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and instrumentation per manufacturer & department procedures and per department schedule.
• Adhere to department policy with regards to performance and documentation of quality control and quality assurance for instrumentation, equipment and procedures performed.
• Utilize independent judgement and problem-solving skills to ensure the accuracy of procedures performed and proper equipment performance. Troubleshoots to and takes appropriate corrective action to resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely manner for resolution.
• Adhere to department policy with regards to performance and documentation of quality control and quality assurance for instrumentation, equipment and procedures performed.

You Should Have:

• A 4 Year/Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology
• More than one year of experience in Histology; 1-3 years of experience in a high-volume histology setting is preferred
