Soc/Clin Research Assistant - Journey

Position Summary The Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a Social/Clinical Research Assistant (Position Title: Soc/Clin Research Assistant – Journey). The role supports data collection for multiple ongoing research projects and clinical trials within the Program on Aging, Chronic Illness, and Long‑term Care. The assistant will work independently in long‑term care settings—including assisted‑living communities and nursing homes—to recruit and consent study participants (residents, family members, and staff), administer questionnaires or other instruments, and complete additional tasks as directed (study equipment management, literature review searches, project material development, analysis, etc.). Travel up to two hours from Chapel Hill and occasional overnight travel may be required. This time‑limited position is expected to last three years, with the possibility of extension beyond that period. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be obtained from appropriately accredited institutions. Management Preferences Relevant training and experience and/or a bachelor’s degree or higher with a concentration in pre‑medical sciences or public health, and experience conducting scientific research. Experience working with health care staff. Experience working with older adults in long‑term care settings and/or with cognitive impairment.
