Essential Skills and Experience:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL), with a strong grasp of interpreting in academic contexts
• Experience working with Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals, ideally supporting students in schools
• Certification or credentials appropriate for educational interpreting (such as EIPA, RID, or state certification)
• Ability to collaborate with teachers, staff, and support personnel to ensure inclusive communication
• Professionalism, reliability, and a genuine commitment to supporting learners of all ages
• Adaptability to varied classroom settings and comfortable interpreting for both group and individualized learning situations

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide real-time sign language interpretation during classroom instruction, school events, meetings, and other activities
• Facilitate clear communication between students, educators, families, and staff
• Assist in adapting instructional materials and classroom interactions to meet the specific needs of Deaf and hard-of-hearing students
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards of interpreting
