Quality Control Chemist

Job Summary

We are seeking a Quality Control Chemist for a temp-to-hire opportunity near Downey, CA. This role is ideal for a chemistry professional who enjoys hands-on laboratory testing, quality documentation, batch adjustments, and working closely with production teams in a chemicals or petro-chemicals environment.

The Quality Control Chemist will support product quality and reliability by testing raw materials, finished goods, returned goods, and hazardous waste samples. Key Responsibilities

- Perform quality control testing on incoming raw materials, finished goods, returned goods, and hazardous waste samples.
- Adjust batches as needed based on laboratory test results and established quality standards.
- Prepare Certificates of Analysis, quality documents, standard reagent solutions, indicators, and testing solutions.
- Operate, standardize, and maintain laboratory equipment including pH meters, viscometers, densitometers, refractometers, moisture analyzers, and spectrophotometers.
- Maintain accurate documentation, records, lab notebooks, retained samples, and required quality files in accordance with SOPs.
- Support housekeeping, safety, sample disposal, dye solution preparation, and compliance with company policies and procedures.

Compensation and Benefits

- Pay: $25 to $33 per hour.

Additional Skills

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a closely related field required.
- Minimum of 2 years of related laboratory experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3 to 5 years of quality control chemistry experience preferred based on role level.
- Ability to operate balances, Brookfield viscometer, kinetic viscosity equipment, densitometer, Karl Fischer moisture analyzer, laboratory mixers, APHA color tester, pH meter, burettes, pipets, spectrophotometer, turbidimeter, and related glassware.
- Strong understanding of wet chemical analysis, laboratory testing methods, quality control procedures, and documentation practices.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize time-sensitive work with minimal supervision.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with staff at all levels.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts including algebra, probability, and statistical inference.
- Ability to read and interpret job-related documents, SOPs, test methods, and quality records.
