Registered Nurse (RN) - Med-Surg/Telemetry

Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) for the Med-Surg/Telemetry department is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to patients while collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure high-quality patient outcomes. The RN will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing interventions and patient care plans, promoting a safe and dignified environment for patients and their families.

Responsibilities

• Assess and reassess patient needs, implementing and evaluating nursing interventions.
• Provide patient care based on established standards, protocols, and policies.
• Respect patients as individuals, fostering their dignity and self-regard.
• Deliver patient and family education tailored to their learning needs and readiness.
• Plan for patient discharge, incorporating necessary support systems.
• Delegate and supervise nursing interventions performed by others as appropriate.
• Document all pertinent data and therapeutic interventions in a timely manner.
• Report on patient status to healthcare team members to ensure continuity of care.
• Identify risks to patient safety and actively participate in reducing medical errors.
• Safely administer medications and intravenous therapies as per physician's orders.
• Monitor and document patient pain levels, responses, and reassessments.
• Interpret cardiac arrhythmias and EKG changes accurately and timely.
• Demonstrate knowledge of mechanical ventilation and related patient care procedures.
• Provide ongoing assessment and monitoring in the immediate post-operative phase.
• Participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds to coordinate patient care.

Schedule

This position is a 36-hour day shift, working from 7:00 am to 7:30 pm, with a rotation every 3rd weekend and holiday, covering a Monday through Sunday schedule.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current Massachusetts RN License.
• ACLS certification upon hire or must obtain AHA ACLS within 60 days of hire.
• 1 year of Medical-Surgical experience preferred; telemetry experience required.
• ICU experience preferred.
