Adjunct Instructor of American Sign Language

Adjunct Instructor of American Sign Language Hybrid – SJC Main Campus – Farmington. Position effective May 11, 2026. Compensation: $778 per credit hour. Exempt. Employment Type: Adjunct/Part‑time Faculty (Fixed Term). Position Summary Adjunct instructors are appointed on term contracts for instructional, temporary, and part‑time assignments. They focus on teaching and course development and do not hold other responsibilities such as professional service or college service. They do not have rights to reappointment. Responsibilities Develop and revise instructional materials. Present material in an organized manner and evaluate student learning. Maintain student records. Teach day, evening, weekend, and online classes as assigned. Teach at the main campus and/or additional centers as assigned. Maintain a minimum of one office hour per week per assigned course. Participate in adjunct professional‑development activities. Demonstrate and promote the school values of innovation, collaboration, accountability, respect, and excellence. Qualifications Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate credit hours in a relevant field of study from an accredited college or university. Preference for candidates with prior teaching experience. Experience with traditional face‑to‑face, hybrid, and online courses. Ability to use San Juan College’s Learning Management System (Canvas) and technology‑enhanced curriculum. Access to home internet, a personal computer, and telephone. Willingness to learn and use multiple technology platforms to communicate with students. Remote Work San Juan College may approve remote or hybrid work for adjunct employees within New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, and Texas (subject to change). All remote‑work requests must be approved in advance by the Dean and Human Resources. Remote work options outside the United States are not permitted. Compensation & Benefits Adjunct faculty may teach no more than 9 credit hours per semester, unless otherwise approved. They are paid bi‑weekly. Adjunct faculty teaching one or more credit classes are eligible for a tuition‑waiver benefit (up to 4 credit hours per semester). The tuition waiver may be transferred to a qualified family member. Voluntary benefits: Allstate / Aflac, Liberty Mutual. Adjunct faculty are not eligible for medical benefits; state and federal taxes, FICA, and social security will be withheld. Retirement contributions under the New Mexico Educational Retirement Board apply to those teaching three or more credit hours.
