Job Summary

We are manufacturing, and lifecycle management of printed circuit boards (PCBs) and electronic components. This role works closely with Product Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to ensure PCB assemblies meet performance, reliability, and quality standards throughout the product lifecycle.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with PCBA manufacturing, PCB layouts, component engineering, testing methodologies, and New Product Introduction (NPI) in an electronics manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the complete lifecycle of PCB assemblies and electronic components in collaboration with Product Engineering teams.
• Evaluate and qualify new electronic components and printed circuit boards to ensure compliance with engineering specifications and quality standards.
• Review PCB layouts and provide recommendations for manufacturability, reliability, and quality improvements.
• Partner with contract manufacturers and EMS providers to resolve production and manufacturing issues.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI), engineering change orders (ECOs), and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Analyze electronic component obsolescence, lifecycle risks, and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate with design engineers during prototype development and validation activities.
• Support functional, electrical, EMI, and reliability testing of PCB assemblies.
• Review manufacturing processes, engineering documentation, and test procedures for compliance with product specifications.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain to resolve technical issues.
• Participate in design reviews and design verification activities to improve product performance and manufacturability.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

Experience

• Minimum 5 years of experience in PCB Assembly (PCBA) manufacturing or electronics manufacturing.
• Hands-on experience working with:
• • Surface Mount Devices (SMD)
  • Through-Hole Devices (THD)
  • PCB layouts
  • Gerber files
• Experience supporting electronic manufacturing and product development environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of IPC standards and CE compliance requirements.
• Experience with multilayer PCB stack-up design.
• Experience using PTC Windchill.
• Experience with CAD software and SolidWorks.
• Familiarity with electronics manufacturing service (EMS) providers.
• Experience supporting engineering change management and product lifecycle activities.

Required Skills

• Strong understanding of PCB design, fabrication, and assembly processes.
• Experience with PCBA inspection and testing methods, including:
• • Automated Optical Inspection (AOI)
  • Automated X-Ray Inspection (AXI)
  • In-Circuit Testing (ICT)
  • Functional Circuit Testing (FCT)
  • JTAG Testing
  • Solderability and contamination testing
• Knowledge of PCB component placement guidelines and manufacturing best practices.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in cross-functional engineering teams.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience using SAP ERP systems.

Physical & Work Requirements

• Ability to work onsite at ABB's Richmond, Virginia facility.
• Ability to work in both office and electronics manufacturing environments.
• Strong attention to detail while reviewing engineering documentation and technical specifications.
• Ability to manage multiple engineering projects and priorities simultaneously.
