Production Analyst

Job Title

Advanced technical school training or college degree, preferably in Computer Science or Information Systems. Two to four years experience or equivalent training/education/certification using one or more of the following programming languages: SQL, JavaScript, Java, C++, Python, ASP.Net, or PHP. Two years of experience and/or training/certification in Networking, System Administration, and/or Database Administration. Experience and/or training using one or more operating system utilities scripting language. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail.

Principal Responsibilities and Essential Duties

Command Center Operations: Demonstrate mastery of the skills necessary to perform overall workload management duties. Perform long term scheduler and project liaison functions. Understand and use all facilities of the automated scheduling and documentation systems. Implement new batch and system commands. Provide and/or secure technical assistance in resolving production batch amends, monitor workload to ensure production trails are processing on schedule. Identify and implement processes for enhancing workload production, prepare runs and overrides and maintain abend reporting system. Use the appropriate tools to keep management updated on workload related problems. May include tape library duties including offsite storage and use of disaster recovery procedures.

Applications Knowledge: Develop or maintain a system or one of its components. Use understanding of a system's design to determine business impact of technology change and how business requirements will be addressed by an application.

Scheduling: Maintain a complete shift production schedule and modify it to respond to abnormal job termination, system and network failures, re-runs, special requests, etc. Resolve work load contention, monitor trends, and recognize problem areas early. Independently resolve difficult problems and implement solutions considering both long and short term implications of solution. Establish standards, procedures and benchmarks to minimize potential problems within areas of responsibility.

Business Knowledge: Use a basic understanding of business processes and ISO's business units operation when developing programs.

Debugging: Debug programs with data exceptions or incorrect output. Use standard debugging facilities.

Programming: Conduct programming tasks independently or in a team environment to build or enhance simple programs. Conduct basic phases of programming including program design, coding from specifications, testing according to specifications, and program documentation. Use basic structured programming constructs when required.

System Analysis: Analyze information for completeness. Participate in one or more system analysis tasks such as: collection of documents, user interviews, file analysis, process flow charting, functional process modeling, data modeling, feasibility, prototyping, and evaluating existing systems.

System Design: Contribute ideas to all basic phases of system design. Work with transaction, object oriented, graphical user interface and other concepts and architectures.

System Development Life Cycle: Attend training/course on Systems Development Methodology and remain familiar with the content of the SDM Reference Guide.

System Maintenance/Enhancement: Conduct system development tasks such as designing system architecture and flow, preparing design and file specifications, designing new documents and reports, and preparing program requirements and specifications. Conduct program maintenance and enhancement tasks for key applications.

System Testing: Conduct program/module testing. Participate in system, function, stress, and acceptance testing.

Client Service: Interact with end user and first line management personnel. Participate in and conduct meetings with user. Respond to planned and unplanned client requests without disruption in service levels. Keep client informed.

Creativity: Actively seek opportunities to develop new approaches to meet new goals. Grasp and apply advanced concepts. Stay abreast of new tools, technologies and techniques and use them to solve problems.

Insurance Industry Knowledge: Use knowledge of the various disciplines within the Insurance Industry to understand how individual responsibilities and tasks impact and allow ISO to better serve the Industry. Link individual responsibilities and tasks to department and company objectives.

Oral Communications: Effectively communicate technical and business ideas and information to others, including non-technical staff. Ask and respond to both technical and non-technical questions.

Technical Industry Knowledge: Apply new technology and awareness of technical trends to projects and departmental systems and architecture. Evaluate and recommend new technology for projects and departmental systems. Attend industry seminars and forums.

Teamwork: Work effectively in a team environment as a member of a self managed work team, in rotational assignments, or as part of a project team.

Written Communication: Write status reports, documentation, and other written communications relating to necessary program development deliverables.

Completes all responsibilities as outlined on annual Performance Plan. Completes all special projects and other duties as assigned. Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
