Job Title: CNC Lathe Setup / Operator

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled CNC Setup / Operator to join our manufacturing team. This position involves setting up and operating CNC machines (lathes) to produce high-quality precision parts according to engineering specifications. The ideal candidate will have experience with machine setup, tooling selection, blueprint reading, and quality control to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.

• Pay Scale: Hourly Rate: $20 – $30 per hour (depending on experience, certifications)

Key Responsibilities:

• Machine Setup & Operation:
• • Set up and operate CNC Lathes according to work instructions.
  • Install and adjust tooling, fixtures, and workpieces for production runs.
  • Load raw materials and oversee machining operations to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Modify machine programs as needed to optimize efficiency and reduce waste.
• Quality Control & Inspection:
• • Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other precision measuring tools.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T specifications.
  • Perform first article and in-process inspections, making necessary adjustments to maintain tolerances.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues related to machine performance, tooling, and material defects.
• Maintenance & Safety:
• • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of machines to ensure proper function.
  • Follow company safety procedures, including proper handling of tools and equipment.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to supervisors.
• Process Improvement & Collaboration:
• • Work closely with engineers, programmers, and quality control personnel to improve machining processes.
  • Suggest improvements in tooling, fixtures, and setups to increase productivity.
  • Maintain accurate records of production, machine adjustments, and quality control checks.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Required:
• • Experience setting up and operating CNC Lathes .
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and technical documents .
  • Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, etc.).
  • Understanding of CNC machine programming fundamentals (G-code, M-code).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for machining and tooling issues.
• Preferred:
• • Experience with Mazak controls .
  • Background in ISO 9001, AS9100, or aerospace/automotive manufacturing .
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement strategies .

Work Environment:

• Full-time role in a manufacturing environment.
• Exposure to machining equipment, metalworking fluids, and noise.
• Standing for extended periods and handling materials up to 50 lbs .
