Kitchen Shift Leader

The Kitchen Shift Leader is responsible for overseeing the daily shift operation of the Kitchen in the Diner or Deli. The Kitchen Shift Leader monitors and/or performs all transactions in such a manner as to attract and retain guests while contributing to the operating success of the Diner, Deli, or other food services offered by the Creek Travel Plaza.

The Kitchen Shift Leader shall report directly to the Restaurant General Manager (primary) & Travel Plaza Manager (secondary) & any senior management.

Responsibilities include:

• Maintaining and reviewing all sales, and volume reports in order to plan and communicate all the needs of the business.
• Participating in the training of all new and current cashiers, maintenance and restaurant staff including servers, Restaurant cashiers and Deli staff while serving.
• Conferring regularly with Restaurant General Manager (primary) & Travel Plaza Manager (secondary) to communicate customer/employee requests and keeps informed of any changes in operating procedures.
• Ensuring that all applicable operating policies and procedures are always adhered to without deviation.
• Ensuring the physical condition of the premises is maintained in a safe, healthy manner.
• Ensuring that all prepared food products meet the established specifications and standards.
• Ensuring prompt delivery & expediting of food as needed.
• Ensuring we are maintaining the appropriate and required level of production to meet business needs.
• Ensuring the complete set-up, stocking, and service of assigned food outlet(s) using specified methods during the assigned shift.
• Completing required daily reports to ensure the appropriate ordering and stocking of food products.
• Must always be friendly and courteous, ensuring excellent customer and employee relations and adhere to the established Dress Code.
• Must maintain a clean, safe work environment before, during and after service, in a team effort to maximize employee efficiency and guest satisfaction.
• Ensuring all task list and duties assigned to staff are met and supports all other Diner/Travel Plaza managers in achieving this goal.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications include:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Two (2) years verifiable related employment experience in restaurant required, supervisory experience preferred.
• Verifiable experience in implementing and maintaining food production operational standards.
• Must have working knowledge of computers with the ability to work in a Windows environment with various software programs such as Word, Excel, etc.
• Demonstrated ability to operate and use all equipment and register system necessary to run the 24-hr. Diner.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with customers and co-workers in a friendly and professional manner.
• Demonstrated ability to read, count and write to accurately complete all documentation.
• Willing to work irregular hours/days as business dictates.
• Must possess a valid state driver's license.
• Ability to work odd, irregular hours in a restaurant environment that is open seven days/week.
• Ability to comply with all other requirements as specified within the CIEDA Personnel Policies and Procedures.
• Internal Promotion, must complete 90-day probation period, Kitchen Shift Leader (1) 6 months on dinner line, 6 months on Deli line be certified in all positional requirements, pass interview, & positional slot is available to move to Kitchen Shift Leader (2).
