** Project Engineer **

** Position Summary **

The Project Engineer supports the Project Manager and Superintendent in planning, coordinating, documenting, and executing commercial construction projects. This role maintains project documentation, coordinates with subcontractors and suppliers, processes submittals and Requests for Information (RFIs), assists with cost tracking and schedule updates, and helps ensure compliance with contract documents. The Project Engineer serves as a key communication link among office staff, field personnel, owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to support safe, timely, budget-conscious, and high-quality project delivery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

** Project Administration **

• Review contract documents, drawings, specifications, and subcontract agreements.
• Update drawing revisions and provide printed drawings for the field superintendent.
• Maintain organized project files throughout the project lifecycle.
• Prepare and distribute meeting agendas and meeting minutes.
• Coordinate jurisdictional permitting and utility application processes as required.
• Manage document control using Procore or other project management software.
• Maintain current drawing logs and specification updates.
• Prepare project startup documentation and signage.

****Submittals & RFIs ****

• Create submittal packages in Procore and assign project-specific submittals.
• Prepare, review, log, and track subcontractor submittals.
• Verify submittals comply with project specifications before submission.
• Prepare and manage Requests for Information (RFIs).
• Upload and link drawings in Procore for approved RFI changes.
• Track RFI responses and distribute approved documents to field personnel and subcontractors.
• Maintain accurate submittal and RFI logs.

****Scheduling & Coordination ****

• Coordinate subcontractor activities with the Superintendent.
• Monitor procurement of long-lead materials.
• Track material deliveries and verify installation sequencing.
• Participate in weekly coordination and owner meetings.

Cost Control

• Assist the Project Manager with budgeting and cost tracking.
• Review subcontractor pay applications for completeness and accuracy before approval routing (as requested by the Project Manager).
• Assist with change order documentation, pricing support, and required backup documentation.
• Track Potential Change Orders (PCOs) and Proposed Change Orders (PCCOs) to support timely review and resolution (as requested by the Project Manager).

Quality Control

• Document and communicate quality-related issues to the Project Manager, Superintendent, and responsible subcontractors.
• Track punch list items through completion and project closeout.

Safety

• Support company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
• Report unsafe conditions immediately.
• Promote a culture of safety throughout the project.

Project Closeout

• Coordinate collection of project closeout documentation.
• Assemble operation and maintenance manuals.
• Obtain warranties and as-built drawings.
• Assist with final inspections and occupancy requirements, as needed.
• Support project turnover to the owner.

Work Environment

• Work in both office settings and active construction site environments.
• Travel between project sites as required.
• Work occasional extended hours to meet project deadlines.

Qualifications (Suggested)

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Knowledge of commercial construction methods and practices.
• Experience with Procore or similar construction management software preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
