Internal Job Title: Expense Accounting - Senior Accounting Analyst Onsite, Locations: League City, Texas – Marina One & Houston, TexasEmployment Type: Full-Time, ExemptReports To: Director, Budget & Expense AccountingLeveling Note: Based upon candidate job qualifications, another job level may be considered (Senior Accountant).American National is seeking a Senior Accounting Analyst (Expense Accounting) to support expense accounting, reporting, process improvement, and project-based requests within the Finance and Accounting organization. This role will help ensure consolidated financial information is accurately recorded in SAP while partnering with teams across Actuarial, Finance, Accounting, and our sister company, American Equity Life. This is a strong opportunity for a self-driven accounting professional who enjoys analyzing data, improving processes, supporting system-related initiatives, and responding to ad hoc business requests in a collaborative environment.What You’ll DoSupport expense accounting activities and help ensure accurate financial information is recorded in SAPAssist with ad hoc reporting and analysis requests, including vendor expense reporting and historical expense reviewsPartner with Actuarial, Finance, Accounting, and AEL counterparts on expense studies, pricing models, reporting needs, and process alignmentHelp maintain and improve accounting processes, procedures, account mapping, and cost center structureDrive project-based requests and reporting functions with limited day-to-day supervisionProvide accounting guidance and support to operating areas to help resolve complex accounting questionsWhat We’re Looking ForBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred or relevant work experience considered in lieu of degree Accounting, finance, or related professional experienceStrong Excel skills and ability to analyze, organize, and interpret financial dataExpense accounting experience preferred; broader accounting experience will also be consideredAbility to work independently, manage competing priorities, and follow through on project-based requestsStrong communication skills and ability to partner effectively with cross-functional teamsPreferred QualificationsAbility to support SAP-related initiatives, including the transition from ECC to S/4HANA and planning/reporting changes from BPC to SAC PlanningExperience with SAP financial systems; SAP ECC and/or S/4HANA experience is strongly preferredPower BI experience is helpful but not requiredExperience in insurance, financial services, or a similar corporate accounting environmentWork EnvironmentThis position requires a physical presence in the company office on a full-time basis. The role is physically comfortable and allows discretion with walking, standing, sitting, and similar activities.
