Summary Senior Project Engineers oversee large, complex engineering projects and portfolios, ensuring compliance with technical, safety, cost, schedule, and regulatory requirements. They provide technical leadership, manage project teams, coordinate multidisciplinary stakeholders, and support NYPA's strategic objectives. NYPA's Project Engineering work spans multiple specializations, including construction management, transmission corridor rebuilds, highvoltage substation modernization, renewable generation and storage integration, customerenergy and electrification programs, and major capital/Propel project delivery. Senior Project Engineers in this pool have opportunities to lead transformative, statewide infrastructure initiatives that directly advance NYPA's cleanenergy mission and strengthen the resilience of New York's electric grid. Ensure compliance with licensing, permitting, environmental, safety, and NYPA project governance requirements. Lead development, review, and approval of project plans, risk mitigation strategies, and forecasts. Manage multidisciplinary teams and facilitate collaboration among engineering, construction, vendors, and customers. Develop and manage KPIs, project controls, reporting, and performance metrics. Mentor engineers, lead onboarding, and support succession planning Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Deep knowledge of engineering project management, project controls, construction management, and asset management. Ability to interpret complex conditions, resolve technical challenges, and make strategic decisions. Strong communication and negotiation skills; ability to influence crossfunctional and external stakeholders. Ability to manage diverse multidisciplinary resources across multiple complex projects Education, Experience and Certifications Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Energy Engineering or related field required; Master's preferred. 7-10+ years of engineering project or construction management experience depending on role level. New York State PE license required in some roles due to the level of technical and regulatory responsibility involved For Project Mgmt. one or more of the following preferred: New York State Professional Engineer (PE) License or ability to obtain within 2 years. Project or Program Management Professional certification or ability to obtain within 2 years. Design Build Institute of America certification or ability to obtain within 2 years. Certified Construction Manager (CCM) Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification Physical Requirements Approximately 25% travel primarily within NY State Willingness to enter confined spaces and climb/scale power system apparatuses. Ability to travel to vendor facilities (worldwide) to support construction activities and to inspect equipment fabrication and commissioning for length of time needed. Availability to work outside of normal business hours (including weekends) when project demands. The New York Power Authority is committed to providing fair, competitive, and market-informed compensation. The estimated salary range for this position is: $146,000 - $182,000. The salary offered will be determined based on the successful candidates' relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
