The Accessioner I processes laboratory samples and ensures that patient specimens are accurately received, cataloged, and prepared for clinical testing. This role focuses primarily on blood specimens, but may also include urine, tissue, and other sample types. The Accessioner I supports laboratory professionals by maintaining precise records, managing clinical information in the laboratory information management system (LIMS), and contributing to accurate diagnosis and treatment through reliable sample handling.

Responsibilities

• Receive and triage all specimens for clinical testing, including blood, urine, tissue, and other sample types.
• Verify specimen information and ensure accurate labeling and documentation for each sample.
• Catalog and organize patient specimens to support efficient and accurate laboratory analysis.
• Manage clinical information within the LIMS database by entering, updating, and maintaining accurate data.
• Perform internal audits of clinical charts to ensure data integrity and compliance with laboratory procedures.
• Collaborate with various departments to ensure testing accuracy and timely processing of specimens.
• Follow established laboratory protocols and quality standards for specimen handling and data entry.
• Prioritize workload to meet deadlines and support timely reporting of laboratory results.
• Work both independently and as part of a team to support overall laboratory operations.

Essential Skills

• 02 years of work experience in a laboratory, healthcare, or related environment.
• Proficiency in data entry with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proven attention to accuracy and deadlines when handling specimens and clinical information.
• Proven ability to work well independently and within a team setting.
• Basic understanding of laboratory workflows and specimen handling processes.
• Ability to use computer systems and databases, including laboratory information management systems (LIMS), or willingness to learn.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• AS or BS degree in biological sciences preferred.
• Interest in working in a clinical laboratory environment.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with various departments.
• Comfort working with blood and other biological specimens.

Work Environment

This position is based in a clinical laboratory environment that focuses primarily on processing blood and other patient specimens. The schedule for this role is Monday through Friday from 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM. You will work with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and computer-based tools to manage clinical data and specimen records. The environment requires consistent attention to detail, adherence to laboratory protocols, and collaboration with other laboratory professionals to ensure accurate and timely testing.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Wichita, KS.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.75 - $19.00/hr.
