Highways Clerk of Works

Highways Clerk of Works - Outside IR35 Location: North East England Contract: 12 Months Rate: £35-£40 per hour (Outside IR35) This is an initial 12‑month contract to support a programme of highway works across the North East of England, working on heritage and Active Travel schemes. You will ensure that works are delivered safely, to specification and in line with required standards. The role is suited to someone with strong site supervision experience within highways or civil engineering, comfortable overseeing contractors, and reporting on progress and quality of works. Key Responsibilities Carry out regular site inspections to monitor progress and quality of works Ensure construction activities comply with design specifications, standards and health & safety requirements Monitor contractor performance and workmanship on site Identify and report defects, non‑compliance or safety issues Maintain clear site records, reports and documentation Liaise with project managers, engineers and contractors to support project delivery Requirements Minimum 5 years' experience in a Highways Clerk of Works, Site Supervisor or similar role Experience working on highways, infrastructure or public realm projects Good understanding of highway construction methods and specificationsAbility to confidently challenge contractors where works do not meet required standards Local authority experience preferred, but not essential #J-18808-Ljbffr Carrington West
