JOB TITLE: Cafeteria Manager


REPORTS TO: Principal / Food Service Director


QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or G.E.D (experience in food service preferred)
• Be 18 years of age or older
• Be able to follow assignments and directions
• Be able to work cooperatively with others
• Be able to perform work required of job
• At least 2 years experience in food preparation
• Meet required health and physical requirements
• Competent in basic math and reading

JOB GOAL: To ensure the smooth operation of the school nutrition program for the ultimate health, comfort, and benefit of the students.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• May require lifting objects up to 50 lbs.
• Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling of objects up to 25 lbs.
• Climbing, stooping, kneeling and/or crouching
• Reaching
• Long periods of standing on hard surfaces
• Noise exposure
• Environmental temperature variances

MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Observe, implement and follow all governing agencies rules and regulations
• Maintain department standards for quality food products and sanitation.
• Assume an active role in increasing student participation in the school lunch program by supporting promotions and other planned activities.
• Prepare weekly orders for food and supplies.
• Correctly receive and verify the receipt of all food and supplies. Report any vendor complaints to Food Service Director/Principal.
• Supervise the storage of all food supplies and maintain reasonable inventory levels.
• Supervise all food preparation and service for quality and quantity.
• Maintain acceptable food/supplies cost.
• Assure that approved food handling and sanitation procedures are followed.
• Follow the meal pattern requirements set forth by the USDA.
• Insure that menus are prepared and served as posted.
• Prepare and post a work schedule.
• Maintain accurate daily and monthly records as required by State and Federal law, and turn in records and reports in timely manner.
• Keep accurate food production records.
• Monitor cashier and oversee deposits and record keeping for accuracy.
• Maintain acceptable meals per labor hour and labor costs.
• Follow and communicate all policies and procedures to staff.
• Maintain accurate and up to date perpetual physical inventory.
• Train staff effectively.
• Evaluate all food service personnel and maintain accurate, accessible records.
• Document misconduct and communicate counseling needs to principal/Food Service Director
• Monitor personal hygiene and appearance of all staff.
• Seek ways to improve skills needed for the job.
• Attend Manager Meetings and In-service regularly and on time.
• Report all accidents and complete all procedures to filing accidents reports.
• Respond immediately to Health Department inspections.
• Responsible for proper use and care of equipment and report maintenance problems promptly.
• Demonstrate computer skills by use of email.
• Exhibit courteous and professional behavior toward school staff, students, visitors, and workers.
• Practice good attendance, punctuality, and dependability.
• Demonstrate good problem solving skills.
• Exhibit proper personal appearance and hygiene.
• Assume any other duties assigned by Principal/Food Service Supervisor
