Who we need MW seeks a Career Counselor & Employer Relations Manager for The New School’s Center for Military-Affiliated Students. In this role, the Counselor will serve as a member of the Veterans Initiative team, reporting to the director. Summary of Duties Coach military connected students on a complete range of career development topics such as resume development, interview preparation, networking and on how best to plan their post-educational careers and find meaningful employment. Develop and execute a plan for sustained and consistent outreach to military-connected students throughout their time at The New School Collaborate with TNS Center for Career Development and employer representatives to host career-focused events for military-connected students Develop and maintain relationships with a dedicated list of priority recruiters and hiring managers who focus on hiring students with military backgrounds Identify and communicate third-party resources and events for military students Partner with university department heads, faculty, and Veterans Initiative colleagues to provide program specific opportunities Review Joint Service Transcripts to translate military experience and conduct preliminary credit evaluations Act as the Veteran Initiative’s liaison to the National Association of Career Educators (NACE) and/or related professional groups Partner with Veterans Initiative staff and the broader MW team to deliver exceptional services to our military-connected students, both at TNS and MW wide Contribute to student recruitment efforts by supporting outreach and engagement activities for prospective military-connected students Develop and manage content for communication channels including social media platforms (e.g. LinkedIn), blogs and newsletters In some cases, work some evenings or weekends to meet the needs of our students Requirements Significant experience providing career counseling to military-connected students Significant experience planning and executing initiatives related to career development for military-connected students Significant experience acting as a principal liaison to recruiters interested in hiring military students Significant experience collaborating with departmental and cross-functional colleagues in a range of university settings Proficient skills and working knowledge of cloud-based and computer software systems including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation, and team communication applications. Knowledge of Handshake, Hubspot, and/or Stellic preferred Experience developing and managing content for social media platforms, blogs, and newsletters preferred Ability to work in the U.S. Bachelor’s degree required; Masters degree preferred Direct connection to the military strongly preferred Location This is an in‑person role, with work expected to be performed on campus at The New School in New York City, NY. Additionally, travel to other locations connected to TNS and to military‑connected sites may occasionally be required. Salary $90,000 - $95,000 Why join MissionWise?
