Warehouse Operations Overview Warehouse Operations is responsible for performing and controlling a combination of manual or automated tasks necessary for the receipt, storage, and shipment of product. This may include functions of receiving, picking, packing, shipping, staging, transporting, storage, delivery, and related activities. The role ensures the efficient flow of products from the point of receipt from vendors to the shipment of products (via prescribed service parameters) to a variety of internal and external customers. Key Expectations Coordinates and supervises the daily activities of business support, technical or production staff in an assigned area Sets priorities for the team to ensure task completion; coordinates work activities with other supervisors Applies expertise to solve standard and non‑standard problems within own area Roles models Cardinal Health's high ethical standards and code of conduct Provides direction in discussing and creating development plans Provides input into succession planning process for own work area Aligns individual goals for self and others with work area/functional goals Builds confidence and respect of others through a positive and energizing style Works within budgetary/financial objectives set by manager, applying knowledge of profit drivers to work processes within own area Builds customer relationships, interprets customer needs and assesses their business requirements Leverages customer knowledge to develop alternative solutions and shares key learnings with others Resolves day‑to‑day or routine problems using defined processes Works/brainstorms with work team and provides suggestions for solutions that contain the appropriate level of risk; ensures work team understands and supports the focus on operational excellence Responsibilities Direct and manage warehouse associates to achieve timely distribution and receipt of product and motivate employees to ensure that predetermined productivity and quality standards are achieved Monitor productivity, adhere to budgetary guidelines, and work to meet Distribution Center objectives and operational goals while maintaining standards pertaining to quality Responsible for the daily scheduling of the workforce to insure proper staffing to select, replenish, restock, locate and ship merchandise in a productive and cost efficient manner Hold staff accountable for conducting work in a safe manner, ensure that warehouse personnel have safe, efficient equipment to perform distribution functions and provide support for a culture that strives toward continuous improvement in environmental, health and safety Coordinate maintenance of equipment, guiding both preventive maintenance and coordinating all necessary repairs Responsible for employee development, which includes training, coaching, counseling and performance appraisals Maintain general responsibility for disciplinary process in the area of counseling, oral and written warnings; insure a productive work climate in the warehouse operation Prepare ad hoc reports as necessary Insure that accurate attendance/PTO records and scheduling are maintained Responsible for Cardinal Health compliance and regulations concerning OSHA, DEA, FDA, state and local authorities; primary facility contact for QRA compliance and initiatives Coordinate and supervise day‑to‑day activities of operations. Activities include but are not limited to: receipt of inbound freight, stocking, outbound order selection, shipping, inventory control Responsible for warehouse safety programs to facilitate a safe and clean environment Measure and monitor productivity, set achievable goals, coach and develop workforce Administer and execute policies and procedures Ensure employees operate within set guidelines Maintain positive employee relations Decisions have a direct impact on work unit operations and customers Frequently interact with subordinates, customers and peer groups at various management levels Interaction involve information exchange and basic problem resolution Qualifications High school diploma preferred 2‑3 years of related experience preferred Strong communication skills Leadership skills Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Equal Opportunity / Inclusive Workplace Cardinal Health supports an inclusive workplace that values diversity of thought, experience and background.
