Job Description

The Maintenance Mechanic supports a busy machine shop by preparing, loading, and overseeing production machines to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation. This role involves hands-on mechanical work, routine inspections, and proactive maintenance to keep equipment running smoothly and minimize downtime.

Responsibilities

• Prepare production machines for daily operation, ensuring all equipment is set up correctly and safely before use.
• Load materials into machines and monitor operations to maintain consistent production quality and output.
• Perform routine mechanical inspections on machine shop equipment to identify wear, damage, or potential issues.
• Troubleshoot mechanical problems on production machines and perform timely repairs to reduce downtime.
• Oversee the performance of machines during operation and make necessary adjustments to optimize efficiency.
• Follow established maintenance procedures and safety guidelines while working on all equipment.
• Collaborate with a small production team to coordinate machine usage, maintenance schedules, and workflow.
• Document inspections, maintenance activities, and repairs to ensure accurate equipment records.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area around machines to support safe and efficient operations.
• Communicate equipment status, issues, and repair needs clearly to production team members and leadership.

Essential Skills

• 23 years of hands-on mechanic experience in a machine shop environment.
• Proficiency in operating, loading, and overseeing production machinery.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to inspect equipment and identify issues.
• Experience performing routine mechanical maintenance and basic repairs on shop machines.
• Ability to work safely around production equipment and follow established safety procedures.
• Attention to detail when monitoring machine performance and conducting inspections.
• Effective communication skills to work collaboratively within a small production team.
• Reliability and accountability in managing daily machine preparation and oversight.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in a machine shop or similar industrial production setting.
• Comfort working with a variety of production machines and learning new equipment.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a busy production environment.
• Willingness to take initiative and exercise autonomy in managing maintenance tasks.
• Basic documentation skills for recording maintenance activities and equipment status.

Work Environment

You work in a small production team of approximately two to three people within a machine shop environment. The role follows a consistent daytime schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The setting involves regular interaction with production machinery and requires adherence to safety standards, including wearing closed-toe shoes. The environment emphasizes collaboration, clear communication, and safe, organized work practices.

This is a Permanent position based out of Dallas, TX.

The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $52000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
