Location: Hybrid, 1 day a week onsite Tysons Corner, VA Clearance: Active Secret or Above Job Type: Full-time Target Salary Range*: $100,000 - $110,000 *This represents the potential salary range for this position depending on education level, years of experience and/or certifications in addition to other position specific requirements which may impact salary Position Overview The AWS Cloud Systems Administrator administers and supports cloud-native infrastructure powering FBI CJIS telecommunication systems. This role focuses on AWS-hosted services, including AWS Connect, EC2, and S3, and supports AWS GovCloud administration, Linux-based virtual machines, system monitoring, security compliance, automation, backup and recovery, DevSecOps practices, and on-call support for mission-critical communication systems. Key Responsibilities Administer and support cloud-native infrastructure powering FBI CJIS telecommunication systems, with a strong focus on AWS-hosted services, including AWS Connect, EC2, and S3. Perform day-to-day system administration tasks within AWS GovCloud, including provisioning, configuring, monitoring, and patching Linux-based virtual machines. Monitor cloud system performance using CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and Splunk. Diagnose and resolve infrastructure issues to maintain 24/7 uptime. AWS Connect and Telecommunication Support Manage telephony workloads and services within AWS Connect. Ensure high availability, security, and performance for mission-critical communication systems. Serve in an on-call rotation to ensure rapid response to service-impacting incidents in telecommunication systems. Security, Compliance, and Continuity Implement and maintain system hardening, encryption, IAM roles, network policies, and multi-factor authentication to comply with FBI CJIS security standards. Support secure data backup and recovery processes for cloud environments. Align backup and recovery processes with federal continuity and audit requirements. Automation, DevSecOps, and Agile Support Use Infrastructure as Code tools such as AWS CloudFormation, Ansible, or Terraform to automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration. Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices in collaboration with cloud developers. Participate in SAFe Agile ceremonies, including planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and system demos. Qualifications Experience 7+ years of experience administering Linux systems, with at least 3 years of AWS cloud infrastructure experience, preferably within GovCloud or similar secure environments. [Required] Deep understanding of AWS Connect operations, call flow configuration, contact lens integration, and AWS Lex/Lambda integration. Experience implementing and managing AWS Identity and Access Management, CloudWatch, S3, EC2, and CloudFormation. Familiarity with networking concepts in cloud environments, including VPC, routing tables, security groups, and load balancing. Hands‑on experience automating cloud infrastructure using Ansible, Terraform, or CloudFormation. Knowledge of cloud security best practices, including NIST 800-53 and FedRAMP-aligned controls. Experience working in SAFe Agile environments using JIRA and Confluence. Skills Ability to administer and support AWS-hosted cloud-native infrastructure. Ability to provision, configure, monitor, and patch Linux-based virtual machines in AWS GovCloud. Ability to manage telephony workloads and services within AWS Connect. Ability to diagnose and resolve infrastructure issues supporting 24/7 uptime. Ability to support secure data backup and recovery processes.
