Clinical Nurse Coordinator Medical Telemetry

St. David's Medical Center is seeking a Clinical Nurse Coordinator for our Medical Telemetry unit within the Healthcare & Medical Services department. Located in central Austin and specializing in neurology, cardiac services, and robotic surgery, St. David’s Medical Center is part of St. David’s HealthCare and is dedicated to compassionate, patient-centered care. In this role, you will provide leadership and coordination for a state-of-the-art neurological and medical telemetry unit, supporting a culture of excellence, clinical quality, and teamwork.

The Clinical Nurse Coordinator Medical Telemetry is a hands-on RN leader who supports daily operations of the unit while delivering direct patient care. You will coordinate patient assignments, oversee admission and discharge processes, and ensure continuous cardiac and telemetry monitoring for a diverse adult population with complex medical and neurological needs. You will collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, and ancillary staff to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care, ensuring safe, evidence-based nursing practice that is aligned with hospital policies and clinical standards.

You will serve as a clinical resource and role model for bedside nurses and support staff, mentoring new team members, precepting newly hired nurses, and fostering a supportive learning environment. The Clinical Nurse Coordinator will participate in staff education, skills validation, and competency development related to telemetry interpretation, stroke and neurological care, and management of complex cardiac and medical conditions. You will help drive quality initiatives, such as falls reduction, infection prevention, stroke and sepsis protocols, and medication safety, using data to monitor outcomes and support performance improvement projects.

This position is responsible for promoting effective communication across shifts and disciplines, supporting daily huddles, and ensuring timely escalation of changes in patient status. You will help manage unit workflow, assist with staffing and resource allocation, and support adherence to regulatory standards and hospital policies. The role involves collaborating with case management and social work to support appropriate discharge planning, patient and family education, and transition of care.
