Licensed Vocational Nurse

LVN Full-Time Days - Wilmington ClinicThe licensed vocational nurse (LVN) renders professional nursing care to patients at the Ambulatory Clinic. The LVN will also assume the role of patient advocate and liaison between the physician and patient. This person will be responsible for delivering services that meet or exceed professional, organizational, community and regulatory standards and provide superior customer satisfaction. The position of licensed vocational nurse will also demonstrate good judgement in conveying patient information to practitioners at all locations while maintaining patient/staff/and practice information confidently.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPatient advocate- ensures a setting that protects the rights of the patient and provides an atmosphere that does not compromise the patients' physician or mental wellbeing, safety, or dignity.Ability to utilize good clinical judgment to deal tactfully and effectively with patients and their families, other employees, practitioners and other medical professionalsDemonstrates knowledge of anatomy and physiology, patient care standards as dictated by the nursing licensing board of the State of California, and standard knowledge of basic CPT and ICD-10 coding.Under supervision of physician, gives results of pathology, radiology, laboratory, and other diagnostic tests.Accurately records and maintains documentation of telephone encounters and onsite patient conversations, including chief complaint, verbal history of present illness with date date of onset, symptoms including pain, bleeding and retention assessment, update of medications and allergies, and limited physical examination, adhering to scope of practice guidelines of the State of California.Communicates with new patients as to severity of problem and, in conjunction with the physician and/or midlevel, conveys urgency of appointment to scheduling staff,Documents relevant material in medical record and forwards pertinent notes to physician for review and signatureInstructs patients on procedures, studies and consultsDemonstrates knowledge of OSHADemonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-specific appropriate care.Maintains clinical and administrative confidentiality with the Practice and the community.Performs other duties as required.Position RequirementsA. EducationHigh school diploma or GED.B. Qualifications/ExperienceValid California Vocational Nursing license1 year of LVN clinical and administrative experience required. Surgical office-based nursing, emergency room or operating room nursing experience preferred. Internal candidates that have recently acquired their LVN license and have completed 1 year of employment at MLKCH will be considered.Environment that included clinical and clerical duties.IV and Blood Draw Certification required.BLS for Healthcare Provider from the American Heart AssociationC. Special Skills/KnowledgeMust be able to respect and maintain highly confidential information. A working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) working knowledge of Kronos is a plus. This professional must possess intermediate math skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills.
