Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in high-risk labor and delivery License: Active compact license required Certifications: Required: BLS, NRP Preferred: ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, AWHONN Advanced Must-Have: Candidates must have current supervisory references. Candidates must have proof of required certifications upon submission. Candidates must pass clinical review with no exceptions. Candidates must have experience circulating during deliveries. Candidates must be able to provide newborn care including eye care and Vitamin K injections. Description: Locals are considered at the same rate as travel candidates. Perm candidates from non-affiliated facilities are eligible for this contract if they have been separated for at least three months. Two years of experience in a high-acuity and fast-paced environment is required. Highly preferred candidates will have five years of high-risk experience, but candidates with three years of experience will be considered if they have high-risk exposure. First-time travelers are accepted. Pre-approved time off will be addressed on a case-by-case basis. Candidates are expected to work every other weekend and on holidays as needed. Floating to post-partum and ante-partum may be required. The patient population includes midwifery clients and private OBs, as well as adult recovery services and community care clinics. Knowledge of electronic fetal monitoring is essential. Staffing follows established guidelines. The unit is high risk and high volume with various types of deliveries. Four operating rooms are available. Candidates need to work in a fast-paced environment and manage high-acuity situations effectively. Candidates will function in the role of a Baby Nurse during deliveries, continuing care until the newborn is transferred to postpartum. The average daily census is 15 patients with 500-600 deliveries per month. The unit consists of 31 rooms and 31 beds. Staffing schedules are posted every six weeks according to unit needs. Interdisciplinary support includes services like respiratory, interpretation, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams. Special equipment includes access to advanced maternal-fetal monitoring tools. Knowledge and skills in assisting with high-risk deliveries and handling newborn care are mandatory. All candidates should demonstrate the ability to manage various procedures relevant to labor and delivery.
