Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled healthcare professional with a strong background in Neuro Intensive Care Unit (NSICU) nursing. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of one year of experience with Epic EMR and specialized experience in managing Neuro ICU patients, including those with external ventricular drains (EVDs), lumbar drains, and subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) cases.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the Neuro ICU setting.
• Utilize EVDs and lumbar drains effectively in patient management.
• Administer medications and treatments per physician orders and established protocols.
• Perform assessments and monitor patient conditions, including using the NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
• Float to other units and campuses as needed, within documented competencies.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient care and outcomes.

Job Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of Neuro ICU experience.
• Proficient in using Epic EMR.
• Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS.
• Experience in managing patients with ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes.
• Ability to maintain professional competencies in high-stress situations.

Work Schedule

Day shift: 4x12-hour shifts (07:00 - 19:30). Candidates must be available for weekend coverage as per scheduling requirements.

Patient Care Details

• Patient Age Groups: Adults, Geriatrics
• Daily Census: Approximately 13 patients
• Number of Beds: 16

Support and Resources

Interdisciplinary support includes various teams such as IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, and Rapid Response Teams, ensuring comprehensive care for patients.
