Behavioral Health Child and Family Therapist

SUMMARY: Provides, oversees, and/or administers a wide range of psychosocial evaluation/assessment, diagnostic, counseling therapy, group therapy, family therapy, crisis intervention, and/or case management services in a clinical environment. This role requires a high degree of independent decision-making and program administration. The position treats all age groups, with an emphasis on children aged 3 and up. The incumbent leads and trains lower-level counselors, social workers, and interns engaged in therapeutic and patient care activities, as appropriate to the individual position. Salary Range: $57,000 - $85,250 DOE. Longevity bonus: $6,000 after one year of full-time employment. $6,000 after two years of full-time employment. $8,000 after three years of full-time employment. Additional incentives: Production bonus also available. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in Social Work or an equivalent field. Current or license-eligible Idaho Master Social Worker license or equivalent in good standing is required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of evidence-based clinical social work and mental health counseling principles, methods, procedures, and standards for children and adults. Interviewing and psychological/developmental evaluation skills. Skill in maintaining patient records. Knowledge of community mental health resources. Understanding of clinical operations for various age groups. Proficiency in creating, editing, and composing written materials. Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions. Emotional stability to cope with human suffering, emergencies, and stresses. Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective work in a diverse community. Ability to evaluate therapeutic progress and modify approaches accordingly. Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques. Understanding of social and vocational rehabilitation principles in mental health. Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms and progress. Knowledge of legal and ethical issues related to patient rights. Familiarity with community support services and funding agencies. Knowledge of community healthcare and vocational services. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: The position involves: Provision of intensive, integrated mental health services and treatment planning in clinical/outpatient settings. Providing professional leadership in therapeutic approach determination. Planning and executing outreach, education programs, workshops, and activities. Supervising clinical activities of therapists, students, and interns. Maintaining case files and related legal documents. Specific duties include: Providing counseling, therapy, and psychotherapy; preparing treatment and discharge plans; crisis intervention; follow-up care. Gathering patient data, evaluating causes of problems, and determining appropriate therapeutic approaches or referrals. Consulting with other professionals and referring clients to appropriate agencies. Providing or arranging therapeutic interventions for crisis or serious disturbance cases. Referring clients for social services and financial assistance. Monitoring treatment effectiveness and adjusting as needed. Maintaining case documentation for treatment and legal purposes. Collaborating with legal and treatment agencies regarding patient records and rights. Planning community outreach and education, serving as liaison to community organizations and schools. Performing administrative functions such as budget monitoring, reporting, and participating in research projects. Providing training and consultation to professionals as needed. Performing other job-related duties as assigned.
