Assistant Director of Accounting

DescriptionAssistant Director of Corporate AccountingThe Assistant Director of Corporate Accounting will lead the full corporate accounting function for the organization, overseeing all accounting operations outside of property management accounting. This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of the corporate accounting cycle across multiple affiliated entities. Reporting directly to the Director of Accounting, this position will also supervise at least one direct report and play a key role in process improvement, financial reporting, and cross-functional support.Key ResponsibilitiesOwn and manage the full corporate accounting cycle, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, journal entries, month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial reportingOversee intercompany accounting activities, including transaction processing, reconciliations, and eliminations across affiliated entitiesLead end-to-end payroll processing through Paylocity for approximately 60 employees, including both exempt and non-exempt populations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timelinessSupport and drive the corporate budgeting and forecasting process, including variance analysis and management reporting for leadershipManage project accounting for self-performed tenant improvement and capital improvement work, including cost tracking, reporting, and coordination with operational stakeholdersOversee billing and revenue tracking for leased membership and event spaceIdentify and implement systems enhancements, workflow improvements, and scalable accounting processes across multiple business segmentsPartner cross-functionally with leadership and operating teams to improve financial visibility, strengthen internal controls, and support strategic decision-makingSupervise, mentor, and develop direct report(s), helping build a high-performing accounting functionRequirementsWhat We’re Looking For7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with strong preference for candidates who have worked in multi-entity, corporate accounting environmentsDemonstrated experience administering payroll, with a solid understanding of payroll processes, controls, and compliance requirementsExperience working in Yardi strongly preferredPrior exposure to construction or project accounting, including job costing, budget-to-actual analysis, and cost tracking, is a significant plusCommercial real estate industry experience is helpful, but not requiredStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess financial data, draw independent conclusions, and make sound judgment callsProven ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environmentStrong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, organization, and follow-throughEffective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and levels of the organizationBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field requiredJob typePerm
