Position Summary

The School Bus Aide assists in the safe pick-up, transport, and delivery of students to and from school. This position supports the bus driver in maintaining a safe, orderly, and positive environment for students and plays an essential role in ensuring each student's safety and well-being during transit.

Compensation & Benefits

• School Bus Aide Rate: $18.72 per hour

Key Responsibilities

• Assist students with boarding and exiting the bus at designated stops and at the school.
• Support students with special needs by operating and securing wheelchairs or other mobility devices, including proper use of lifts and restraints.
• Secure student safety devices as required during transport.
• Help maintain discipline and promote respectful, safe behavior on the bus.
• De-escalate situations calmly and report any incidents or concerns promptly to the Transportation Supervisor.
• Assist the bus driver during emergencies, inclement weather, and other situations to ensure student safety.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor or designee.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
• Proficient in student management with a patient, supportive, and professional approach.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.

• Ability to sit for an extended period of time
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull 50 pounds
• Ability to kneel, crouch, bend and reach to retrieve and handle materials and supplies
• Ability to speak clearly and distinctly when communicating
• Adequate vision to perform responsibilities and duties
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle

Work Environment

This position requires regular presence on a school bus and may include outdoor exposure during boarding and drop-off, assisting students in varying weather conditions, and supporting needs in a moving vehicle environment.
