Shop Mechanic

A premier stone manufacturing facility is seeking a dependable Diesel Mechanic / Equipment Maintenance Technician to join our client’s team. This is a rare mentorship and succession opportunity: you will spend your first year training directly alongside the veteran head mechanic to master the facility’s specific machinery before he steps into retirement. Job Location – Fond du lac, WI

Starting Date – ASAP

Employment Term – Direct Hire

Employment Type – Full time

Work Hours (Shift) – 1st shift

Starting Pay –$58,000 – $66,000 per year (commensurate with experience)

Required Experience – At least 2 years of experience

Responsibilities

• Routine Preventive Maintenance: Perform regular service checks across plant equipment, including checking fluid levels, changing oils and filters, and greasing high-wear components.
• Major Repairs: Troubleshoot, diagnose, and execute major mechanical and diesel repairs on heavy production equipment and machinery.
• Saw & Belting Maintenance: Perform mechanical upkeep on large industrial saws, including blade replacements, belt changes, and alignment checks.
• Knowledge Transfer: Work closely with the retiring technician daily to document processes and learn customized equipment setups.

Qualifications

• Eagerness to Learn: A strong work ethic and a genuine willingness to expand your skill set under direct mentorship.
• Mechanical Aptitude: Background in diesel engine repair, heavy equipment maintenance, or industrial plant mechanics.
• Electrical Experience (Bonus): Prior experience with electrical troubleshooting, motor controls, or wiring is a strong plus.
• Physical Capability: Ability to safely handle heavy machinery components, large saw blades, and industrial tools.
