Inventory Manager

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Inventory Manager for a direct hire opportunity in Newbury Park, CA. This is a hands-on warehouse inventory leadership role supporting a high-volume clothing and textile manufacturing operation with 5 warehouse locations and more than 1 million units in inventory.

The Inventory Manager will take full ownership of inventory accuracy, movement control, location discipline, cycle counts, physical counts, inventory investigations, and team accountability. This role is ideal for a strong inventory leader who enjoys being on the warehouse floor, solving operational problems, improving processes, training teams, and creating measurable inventory control improvements.

This opportunity offers high visibility, operational impact, and the ability to lead inventory standards across multiple departments. The right candidate will work closely with warehouse leadership, build structure within the inventory team, and help improve inventory flow, accuracy, and accountability across the full operation.

Key Responsibilities

- Own inventory accuracy across all warehouse locations, including active pick, reserve, bulk, overflow, transfer, and non-pickable areas.
- Lead cycle counts, physical counts, location audits, movement audits, reconciliation, and inventory investigations.
- Review inventory movement history to confirm system activity matches the physical flow of product across storage, replenishment, picking, packing, returns, transfers, and final movement.
- Identify inventory discrepancies, movement errors, shortages, overages, missing units, incorrect locations, unexplained adjustments, and process failures.
- Train, lead, and hold the inventory team accountable for count accuracy, location control, system transactions, escalation procedures, and inventory discipline.
- Partner with warehouse leadership and cross-functional teams to correct root causes, reduce unnecessary touches, improve layout, and enforce inventory control standards.

Compensation and Benefits

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Manage inventory accuracy and control across multiple warehouses or large-scale warehouse operations.
- Lead cycle count programs, physical inventory counts, inventory audits, movement reviews, and reconciliation processes.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies and correct root causes across picking, packing, replenishment, returns, transfers, storage, and warehouse movement.
- Train and lead inventory teams while enforcing inventory procedures and cross-department accountability.

- 6 to 10 years of relevant inventory management, warehouse operations, or inventory control leadership experience.
- Experience in apparel, clothing, consumer goods, e-commerce, wholesale, retail distribution, or high-SKU warehouse environments.
- Strong knowledge of pick and pack operations, replenishment, storage, inventory flow, location control, and warehouse movement.
- Proven ability to manage inventory across multiple facilities or high-volume warehouse operations.
- Strong experience with WMS platforms, Excel, reporting, inventory analysis, and movement history review.
- Ability to operate or work around forklifts, pallet jacks, and warehouse machinery.
- Ability to walk the warehouse floor, inspect locations, validate counts, observe team behavior, and identify process breakdowns in real time.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to train staff, enforce standards, challenge poor processes, and drive accountability across departments.
- Excellent communication, follow-up, problem-solving, and root-cause investigation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience managing inventory in a high-volume apparel, textile, fashion, or SKU-intensive distribution environment.
- Experience improving warehouse layout, pick flow, replenishment strategy, and product placement to reduce touches and improve accuracy.
- Prior experience leading inventory teams across multiple buildings, departments, or operational shifts.
- Strong background reducing inventory adjustments through process correction, team training, and disciplined movement control.
