Regular in-office presence is required for day-to-day operations, as well as for team meetings, training opportunities, and relationship building.Position SummaryThe Litigation Paralegal position will provide organizational and practice specific assistance to attorneys in the Department in preparing cases from onset through post-trial, including related research and analysis. Qualified candidates demonstrate professionalism, attention to detail, and ability to handle multiple priorities and work in an organized, efficient manner. This is a Shared Services position which supports litigators throughout the firm in a largely remote manner. Candidate should also be flexible to work overtime as needed.Key ResponsibilitiesAssists attorneys in in all stages of litigation cases from onset through post-trialOversees organization, maintenance and appropriate utilization of documents and other case-related materials, including maintenance of client-presentable and efficient work areas and case roomsAssists and manages with the discovery process, prepares for depositions, propounds and responds to written discovery and prepares for expert discoveryOversees and conducts document reviews and document productions; prepares documentation regarding criteria changes; tracks and reports on review progress and resultsPerforms analytical tasks, prepares witness interview memoranda, reviews and summarizes documents, deposition, court transcripts and creating and using substantive coding toolsAssists with basic legal research, including locating cases, statutes and regulatory materials; conduct fact research on internet and private search engines, such as Westlaw and LexisAssists with law and motion practice, assembles motion papers and exhibits, coordinates filings of pleadings and briefs and ensuring proper serviceDrafts common pleadings, motions, notices and other court filingsEnsure compliance with federal and state rules of procedure and evidence for document format, content, filing, etc. Performs and oversees both simple and complex authority and fact cite-checking; confirms case quotes, proofreads briefs and other legal documentsAssists and manages trial preparations, creates trial notebooks, identifies and organizes exhibits, coordinates witness schedules, maintains trial calendars and communicates effectively with opposing counsel and courtroom staffAssists in preparation of post-trial filings including briefing, motions for costs and sanctions, etc. and organize the case for appeal if necessaryMaintains timely and accurate timekeeping records on a daily basisAssists with other department activities as needed, and performs additional duties and responsibilities as assignedSkills & CompetenciesAbility to communicate professionally and interact effectively with all levels of personnel, including management staff and support staffAbility to work efficiently and effectively in a remote environmentDemonstrated attention to detail, reliability, outstanding organizational skills and ability to learn new technologyExcellent client service skills and ability to work on multiple matters simultaneously in an organized manner and under minimal supervisionSkilled at drafting clear and concise memoranda, detailed fact summaries, pleadings and other documentsFlexibility and ability to respond quickly and positively to shifting demandsPosition periodically requires off-site work at a war room or the courthouse when the case goes to trialEducation & Prior ExperienceBachelor's Degree required, Certificate in Paralegal studies from an accredited institution preferred; equivalent experience consideredCertified Paralegal a plusMinimum of 7+ years of experience as a Litigation Paralegal within a law firm with demonstrated knowledge of complex issues within the Litigation practice areaExceptional computer skills with the ability to learn new software applications quicklyTrial experience, including exhibit preparation, witness preparation and management, knowledge of subpoena preparation, experience working with judicial assistants and trial presentation vendors, experience assisting attorneys in the courtroomTechnologyComputer proficiency in Windows-based software and Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook, as well as document managementProficiency with E-filing and litigation support applications such as Relativity, Opus 2 and Adobe AcrobatThe expected pay range for this position is: $43.08 - $58.29 per hour. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
