Audit Supervisor

Auditor Supervisor Position: Auditor Supervisor (Auditor 4G, G r grade G27) in the Office of Audits and Investigations of the Prince George’s County Council. Overview Lead and/or supervise audit and investigative work in areas of performance, financial auditing, and budget review. Incumbents perform the most complex auditing assignments in assigned functional areas, under the general supervision of a senior auditor. Work is reviewed for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to generally accepted auditing principles, techniques, and procedures. Responsibilities Ensure data is presented to the County Auditor within the timeframe established for the survey phase of engagement. Prepare audit guides in accordance with established office policy and achieve acceptable quality 90% of the time. Prepare exit conference memoranda no later than the end of the next business day following the exit conference. Obtain data and information diplomatically, ensuring no complaints based on lack of tact. Research and analyze thoroughly on first approach to preclude additional tests 95% of the time. Prepare workpapers in accordance with office policy, documenting conclusions 100% of the time. Secure concurrence from operating personnel on 95% of factual data and 100% of compliance recommendations; accept 75% of recommendations on systems, methods, and procedures. Ensure actual time to complete audits does not exceed 2% of direct audit hours on engagement. Complete report revisions no later than three business days following acceptance by the County Auditor. Ensure productivity of subordinates is within desired limits relative to the total project. Willingly and cooperatively perform additional tasks, including conducting budgetary review and investigations of allegations of fraud, waste, and abuse reported to the office. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a closely related field. Three (3) years of professional experience in auditing and/or accounting with at least one (1) year of lead or supervisory experience. Preferred Qualifications Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and/or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation. Ten (10) or more years of professional experience in auditing.
