Social Media & Communications Director (Phoenix)

Role Overview

The JD Steel Family of Companies is seeking our first-ever Social Media & Communications Director to build, launch, and lead our organization’s digital presence and overarching communications strategy. This is a ground-floor opportunity for a visionary creator and strategic communicator to establish brand identity for a leading group of companies in the reinforcing steel industry.

As the sole driver of our marketing and communications efforts, you will manage everything from daily social media execution and content creation to website development and internal communications across all our companies and regional operations. You will serve as the voice of our brand, ensuring our reputation for excellence is effectively communicated to clients, industry partners, and prospective employees.

Key Responsibilities

Social Media & Community Management

• Build from Scratch: Launch and manage the official social media presence for the JD Steel Family of Companies across relevant platforms (e.g., LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube).
• Content Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive social media calendar encompassing all regions and subsidiary companies.
• Engagement: Monitor all platforms daily, proactively manage community engagement, respond to comments, and handle direct messages.
• Campaigns: Strategize, place, and manage boosted posts and paid social media advertising to maximize reach.

Content Creation & Multimedia

• Visual Production: Serve as the primary creator for all in-house visual content, including taking high-quality photos, filming video content, and managing post-production editing.
• Graphic Design: Design dynamic, engaging digital and print graphics to support online campaigns, company events, and internal announcements.

Brand Management & Print Media

• Brand Identity: Standardize and manage the logo, color palette, and brand voice for the entire family of companies.
• Print Assets: Design, order, and manage all print media, promotional materials, and advertising items.
• Vehicle Branding: Coordinate and manage the design, production, and installation of vehicle logos and fleet branding.

Web Development & Management

• Website Maintenance: Oversee the content, updates, and overall performance of the existing company websites.
• New Site Development: Lead the website design, development, and launch strategy for any new companies added to the JD Steel portfolio.

Internal & External Communications

• Newsletters: Write, design, and distribute internal company newsletters and external client-facing updates.
• Corporate Messaging: Draft and distribute official company communications, announcements, and press releases.

Recruitment Marketing & Employee Branding

• Talent Attraction: Partner with leadership to design and place targeted recruitment content to attract top-tier field and management talent.
• Onboarding Packages: Facilitate all new employee branding assets, including standardizing email signature blocks, ordering business cards, and coordinating professional headshots.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience : 5+ years of experience in communications, digital marketing, social media management, or a similar multifaceted role. Experience in the construction, manufacturing, or steel industry is a strong plus.
• Self-Starter Mentality : Proven ability to build a marketing or communications department from the ground up with minimal existing infrastructure.
• Technical Skills : Proficiency in graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite: Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign). Experience with video editing and photography. Familiarity with website content management systems (CMS) and basic web development/design principles.
• Communication : Exceptional copywriting, editing, and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging to both corporate and field-level audiences.
• Project Management : Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously across different companies and regional offices.
