Vet Technician/Assistant

The Vet Technician/Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting veterinarians in the care and treatment of animals. Minimum Qualifications

• Experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal care environment.
• Training in anesthesia monitoring and laboratory procedures.
• Knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, and common medical procedures.
• Ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.

Preferred Qualifications

• Completion of a veterinary technician training program accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) or equivalent.
• Certification or licensure as a Veterinary Technician as required by state regulations.
• Strong customer service skills and experience in client communication.
• Familiarity with veterinary practice management software.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and medical procedures by preparing animals and equipment.
• Monitor and record vital signs and behavior of animals before, during, and after treatment/anesthesia.
• Administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
• Provide inpatient and outpatient nursing care.
• Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding animal care instructions, treatment plans, and follow-up procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the clinic, including sterilizing instruments and managing waste.
• Manage inventory of medical supplies and ensure proper storage of medications.
• Maintain accurate and detailed medical records and assist with appointment scheduling.
