Charge Nurse (RN) - Psychiatric - $35-50 per hour

BJC HealthCare is seeking a Pediatric Charge Nurse (RN) for a nursing job in Valley Park, Missouri. Position Overview This is a staff, ongoing role. The Charge Nurse will plan, direct, and coordinate activities of a unit on a designated shift, serve as a clinical resource, and provide direct patient care as needed. Responsibilities Facilitate identification and resolution of gaps in care from hospitalization to discharge and into the ambulatory setting. Critically assess patient data to proactively mitigate impending changes in condition and establish consults to the interprofessional team as appropriate. Lead the development and implementation of complex individual plans of care with defined goals, collaborating with the interprofessional team and patient, family, or caregiver. Apply expert holistic clinical knowledge to anticipate and prioritize complex care needs, anticipate barriers, incorporate interprofessional and caregiver/family input, and identify opportunities to improve patient outcomes. Actively utilize and champion scientific inquiry for evidence-based practices, including participation in journal clubs, facilitating practice change, recommending new standards of care, conducting literature searches, and disseminating new knowledge. Explore opportunities to advance nursing practice through community engagement, education groups, advisory boards, adjunct faculty, or leadership roles in specialty organizations. Analyze gaps in practice standards and provide feedback to peers in collaboration with leadership to enhance safe patient care. Lead the evaluation of patient and family experience, adjusting care to improve satisfaction and quality of care. Minimum Requirements Education: Nursing Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing. Experience: 2-5 years of RN experience, preferably in psychiatric or behavioral health settings. Licenses & Certifications: Current RN license. Supervisor Experience: None required. Preferred Requirements Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. Experience: 5-10 years of RN experience, including psych/behavioral health.
