QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or general education degree (GED) Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to clearly communicate with all students, parents, staff and community Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies Mandatory overtime when needed ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILTIES Responds to requests from Director of Facilitiesand/or school administration as needed throughout the day Cleans and monitors designated spaces and equipment in the building, including sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, mopping and waxing floors; rubbish removal Cleans and disinfects bathroom sinks, toilets and urinals, mirrors Check hand soap, paper towel, & tissue supplies and keep stocked Replaces light bulbs as needed Unlocks and locks premises, secures windows and activates/deactivates the alarm systems Cleans and maintains custodial equipment daily after each use Helps in unloading of freight as needed with delivery to specified areas Moves classroom furniture as needed Performs basic maintenance as needed Performs painting work as needed Assists with snow removal/de-icing as needed Performs other duties as assigned The above list is not all inclusive of the essential duties of the job ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Frequent walking, bending, twisting and lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs. such as cleaning supplies, pails and unloading trucks Continuous use of hand strength to grasp tools and cleaning equipment and climb on ladders Push/pull items such as tables, bleachers, and/or cleaning equipment COMPENSATION AND HOURS As set by the collective bargaining contract between the Ansonia Board of Education and Teamsters Custodial and Maintenance.
