Medical Assistant / Medical Front Office

Medical Assistant Provides patient care services in the back office medical setting, which will meet the specific needs of the patient. Essential Functions Performs the essential functions as defined as by the appropriate Skills Competency Compliance with established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, safety, environmental and infection control Implements infection control policies throughout the course of patient care and other job Complies with personal protective equipment policy necessary for protection from exposure to bloodborne pathogens, infectious disease and other hazardous substances. Observes and communicates changes in the patient's condition to the provider on Assists provider with exams, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care under direct Participates in the completion of the emergency equipment daily checklist, as well as any assigned duties and tasks necessary to maintain compliance with Federal and State Participates in education programs and attends meetings as Dispenses prescriptions and medications per policy Follows and complies with standing orders policy; recognizes when the provider on duty is necessary based on patient presentation and policy guidance Administers medications per policy and adheres to all safety protocols and procedures for medication administration. Notifies the provider on duty promptly of all unusual patient occurrences including medication events on an incident Promptly notifies the Clinic Manager of patient or employee safety Follows guidelines and requirements of laboratory and clinical accreditation Treats patients and co-workers consistent with the NextCare Mission Statement, Vision, Values and Performance Performs other related duties as assigned or described by Company Key Duties and Responsibilities Analytical Testing: Perform moderate-complexity clinical testing across authorized disciplines (e.g., Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis) in strict accordance with the laboratory's COLA-approved SOP manual. Quality Control & Calibration: Execute and document daily instrument calibrations, quality control (QC) tracking, and corrective actions for out-of-range values prior to reporting patient results. COLA Inspection Readiness: Maintain orderly, verifiable, and audit-ready logs for all pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical activities to ensure seamless biennial COLA on-site surveys. Competency & Training: Participate in mandatory, documented competency assessments (semiannually in the first year of employment, and annually thereafter) covering all six CLIA-mandated elements. Proficiency Testing (PT): Successfully test and document blind proficiency testing samples exactly like patient specimens, adhering to strict anti-commingling regulations. Specimen & EMR Processing: Accession, process, centrifuge, and evaluate sample integrity, reporting data accurately into the Laboratory Information System (LIS). Critical Value Notification: Promptly recognize critical, life-threatening results and follow immediate notification protocols to the attending Texas healthcare provider. Essential Skills and Experience Candidates in Arizona Education: Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent; and meets the criteria in sections 1, or 2 or 3 below. The medical assistant candidate has completed an APPROVED Medical Assistant Training Program*. Certification is not required but is "Approved medical assistant training program," means a program accredited by one of the following two-accreditation organizations: The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health (CAAHEP); or The Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES); or * Recruiter will verify that the candidate has completed an APPROVED Medical Assistant Training Program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES). The medical assistant candidate has completed an UNAPPROVED medical assistant training program AND Certification* is Successfully passes the medical assistant examination administered by a certifying organization accredited by either the following two agencies: National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA); or American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Certifying organizations accepted in Arizona by the NCCA are: (CMA) Certified Medical Assistant exam and certification is administered by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA); or (RMA) Registered Medical Assistant exam and certification are approved for medical assistants that meet the American Medical Technologists (AMT) criteria; or (CCMA) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant exam and certification are administered by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA); or (NCMA) National Certified Medical Assistant certified by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT); or (CMAC) Clinical Medical Assistant Certification exam and certification administered by the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA) *Recruiter will verify the medical assistant has documentation of certification by an organization accredited by either the National Commission for Certifying Agencies, or American National Standards Institute. The medical assistant candidate is eligible for hire if they meet one of the following three (3) criteria within A., or B., or The medical assistant candidate completed an UNAPPROVED medical assistant training program AND Was Employed as a medical assistant for one (1) year or more after program completion must have occurred prior to February 2, 2000,*; or *Candidates must complete the Arizona Medical Assistant Candidate Employment Attestation The medical assistant candidate was directly supervised by the SAME physician, physician group, or physician assistant for a minimum of 2000 hours (approximately working 40 hours/week for 12 months) prior to February 2, 2000,*; or *Candidates must complete the Arizona Medical Assistant Candidate Employment Attestation The medical assistant completed a United States Armed Forces medical services training program*. *Candidates must complete the Arizona Medical Assistant Candidate Employment Attestation *Recruiter will verify that the candidate has completed and satisfied the Human Resources attestation requirement to meet the criteria above. The following Emergency Medical Services (EMS) credentials are eligible for hire in a lesser role under the Clinical Care Specialist (CCS) job AEMT* EMT-I* (Intermediate) EMT-P* (Paramedic) Paramedic* *Recruiter: Will verify the EMS candidate credentials based on the recruiter reference If the candidate's EMS license or certification is not current, they must have worked in a position similar or greater than the MA/CCS position within the 3 previous Will ensure that candidates with EMS credentials accepting a position as an MA/CCS signs the NextCare Candidate Credentials Recertification and Renewal Acknowledgement regarding potential LPN license renewal LPNs are eligible for hire into the lesser role under the Clinical Care Specialist (CCS) job description in the state of Arizona. The licensed LPN may only perform medical assistant duties when they are hired under the MA/CCS job description.* *Recruiter: Will verify the LPNs completion of LPN education and If the candidate's LPN license is not current, they must have worked in a position similar or greater than the MA/CCS position within the 3 previous Will ensure that an LPN accepting a position as an MA/CCS signs the NextCare Candidate Credentials Recertification and Renewal Acknowledgement regarding potential LPN license renewal
