Your mission

As a Payment & Risk Operations Specialist at Bitpanda, your mission is to conduct pre-execution transaction monitoring to prevent exposure to financial crime and system abuse, applying first-principles reasoning to assess unusual activity by using evidence and data to balance risk and impact in a way that serves both the company and the user.

What you’ll do

• Assess suspicious activity in fiat and crypto transactions; determine and take ownership of appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Analyse blockchain data to inform risk decisions with actionable insights.
• Provide direct customer support via email and live chat, ensuring clear and professional communication.
• Collaborate with internal teams on escalated cases, ensuring SLA adherence and contributing to operational improvements.
• Support senior team members by compiling insights on emerging fraud trends and assisting with relevant reporting.

Who you are

• 4+ years of experience in risk, fraud, or payments operations, including at least 2 years focused on payments fraud prevention in crypto or fintech, with practical experience investigating transactions using blockchain intelligence tools. SQL skills are a plus.
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to fraud prevention through proactive, impact-driven intervention methods.
• Apply practical, well-reasoned problem-solving grounded in data and logic, with a focus on efficiency and meaningful outcomes.
• Communicate effectively, operate with sound judgment, and base decisions on evidence rather than personal bias or assumption.
• Adapt easily to shifting priorities and maintain a continuous learning mindset to close knowledge gaps.
