Head of Deposit Operations

The Senior Vice President and Head of Deposit Operations is responsible for the management of NCB’s deposit operations supporting a growing deposit base (currently $3.5 billion). The position will be based in either NCB’s Arlington, VA Operations Center or NCB’s Hillsboro, OH Commons location, with the individual responsible for a team of over 50 professionals across both locations with oversight of core functions including Deposit Account Management, Deposit Services, Commercial Cash Management Services, Digital Banking, Electronic Payments, Credit Union Correspondent Banking, Branch Operations, Quality Control, Fraud Analysis, and Remittance Processing. This management level position reports to the Chief Operating Officer. The successful candidate will be responsible for achieving broad operational goals with specific emphasis on the areas of risk management, operational excellence, customer service, and sales support. The individual will be self-directed, able to independently operate and influence at all levels across the entire bank with a demonstrated ability to lead and deliver complex strategic, transformational, and growth projects. Role Responsibilities This leader will drive overall policy development, management and strategic planning for the Deposit Operations Team by defining and driving, in conjunction with senior management, the following initiatives: 1. Sales Support a. Lead Deposit Operations Team to ensure assigned products meet customer demands, are positioned optimally to drive revenue, minimize operating expense, remain competitive, and are delivered within acceptable quality standards. Communicates, influences and negotiates both vertically and horizontally to obtain or leverage necessary resources. b. Leadership and strategic development and ongoing refinement of vendor operations (core processing, item processing, cash management services, digital banking, etc.) with end-to-end product capability – vision, strategy development and implementation. This includes resolving any obstacles involved in supporting the product delivery to the customer. c. In collaboration with line of business leaders and Treasury Product Management develop and implement new deposit products and services, commercial cash management, correspondent banking, digital banking, and payments for delivery across multiple channels. 2. Operational Excellence a. Inspire the currently high-performing team to continue to embrace the tenets of operational excellence including maximizing existing technology capabilities, empowering team members to challenge existing ways of working, continuously optimizing products, services, and experiences for customers, implementing KPIs to foster a performance driven culture, and developing and piloting AI-enabled solutions and agents. b. Lead Deposit Operation’s technology and operational business planning to ensure initiatives meet the needs of our customers and are properly conceived to maintain our competitive edge. Oversee the continued refinement of an operating model (people, process, and technology) dedicated to delivering NCB’s core value of Customer Focus. c. Develop departmental budgets in accordance with established guidelines; administers compliance to meet budgetary goals and negotiates changes as required. 3. Risk Management a. Implement and maintain specific risk management KRIs and compliance controls and reporting standards. Design, update and implement effective policies and procedures for the department; ensuring that they are current and position NCB to achieve our customer loyalty, risk, quality, and growth aspirations. Maintain collaboration with the Legal and Compliance areas to ensure adequate monitoring and procedures are in place and with applicable state and federal regulatory requirements. b. Stay abreast of economic, regulatory, technology innovations, and competitive developments as they impact deposit operations, serving as the subject matter expert at NCB. c. Ensure departmental alignment with the bank’s operational risk appetite, including fraud, cybersecurity, and third-party risk management, and continuously assess emerging AI-related risks. Maintain strong relationships and open communications with Information Technology, Information Security, and Vendor and Third-Party Management. Serve as a member of the Operational Risk Management and Legal and Compliance Committees and actively participate in business continuity planning and exercises, ensuring that Deposit Operations is prepared to support and communicate with customers during outages or incidents. Minimum Qualifications 10+ years of leadership experience managing multi-functional Deposit Operations organizations, including direct oversight of leaders, managers, and teams. 10+ years of experience managing deposit operations, core processing platforms, and commercial cash management systems within a regulated financial institution. 10+ years of experience leading financial services operations with demonstrated expertise in operational risk management, regulatory compliance, audit management, fraud mitigation, business continuity, and control frameworks within a regulated banking environment. Collaborative leadership style with strong interpersonal, communication and relationship management skills Ability to interact effectively, both in person and virtually, with senior management across the bank, customers, and critical third parties including Fiserv, Q2, FIS, and Finastra Visionary leader with a demonstrated ability to advance concepts from strategy development through implementation, adoption, and growth stages Background in cash operations, treasury, and/or similar commercial investment services Superior verbal, business writing and presentation communication skills Superior influencing, negotiating and conflict management skills; willing to vocally demonstrate expertise in meetings and committees of all types Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Copilot, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and willingness to embrace and champion constantly evolving technologies and capabilities The ability to maintain a regular and visible onsite presence in both NCB's Ohio and Virginia offices is an essential function of this role and critical to successfully leading geographically dispersed teams and operational functions. The position requires routine travel between NCB office locations, as well as periodic attendance at conferences, vendor locations, industry events, and customer meetings. Total travel is expected to be approximately 20% of working time. Education Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience Hybrid – Employees will work from both remote and onsite locations. Employees must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the office and are required to be on-site at least two (2) days per week, specifically on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The duties of this position will at times require additional in-office days. Routine travel between NCB offices, conferences, and customer meetings is expected.
