Associate Project Manager I – Fabrication Engineering Unit Job ID: 784525. Position within Quality Assurance / Bureau of Engineering Review and Support. Under general supervision, the Associate Project Manager I performs challenging project management work, monitoring off‑site inspection for acceptance and verification during fabrication of Structural Steel and Prestressed/Precast Concrete bridge components. Key Responsibilities Monitor off‑site inspection for acceptance and verification during fabrication of Structural Steel and Prestressed/Precast Concrete bridge components. Oversee inspection agencies during their inspection assignments. Review shop drawings, design drawings, welding procedure specifications, fabrication and repair procedures. Evaluate non‑destructive testing procedures and results. Work with AWS Structural Steel and Bridge Welding Code, NYSSCM, NYSPCCM, ASME and ASTM standards. Travel to fabrication plants across the U.S. and Canada as required. Perform related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications One year of full‑time satisfactory experience supervising employees performing project management work on engineering, architectural or landscape projects, or a project with a value of $1,000,000 or more, and either: A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, engineering technology, architecture, landscape architecture, architectural technology, construction, construction management, construction technology, sustainable design, urban planning, city planning, transportation planning, business administration or public administration, with one year of experience in project management. A four‑year high school diploma or its equivalent and five years of experience as described in (1) above. A combination of education and experience totaling five years, with credit for each 30 semester credits of college or university education toward a bachelor's degree, a Master’s degree, a Juris Doctor, or a valid NY State professional license (Professional Engineer, Registered Architect or Registered Landscape Architect). Where experience primarily of a design nature is not acceptable for meeting the qualification requirements. In addition to meeting the qualification requirements for Assignment Level I, candidates must have at least one additional year of experience as described in (1) above in a supervisory capacity or have served for at least one year as a project manager for a large and/or complex construction project.
