Receiving Clerk

The Receiving Clerk is responsible for the accurate and efficient receipt of incoming materials, components, small packages, and equipment. This position verifies incoming shipments against purchase orders and documentation, records receipts in the ERP system, and ensures materials are properly identified and moved to the appropriate location within the facility. This role works closely with Inventory, Purchasing, Accounting, Production, and Shipping to resolve discrepancies and keep materials moving efficiently throughout the operation. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Receive and process incoming domestic and international shipments, including small packages, components, materials, and equipment. Verify incoming materials against purchase orders, packing slips, and other receiving documentation for accuracy. Accurately record receipts and related transactions in the ERP system. Identify and communicate quantity, part number, purchase order, or other receiving discrepancies. Work with Purchasing, Accounting, and other departments to resolve purchase order and receiving discrepancies. Complete and maintain required receiving paperwork and documentation. Unload inbound shipments using a forklift, hand truck, pallet jack, or other material-handling equipment. Safely move received materials to designated inventory, inspection, production, or staging areas. Process miscellaneous receipts, including customer-supplied parts, sample parts, and other non-standard incoming materials. Receive and process parts and materials for assembly teams. Assist with loading outbound shipments as needed. Support Inventory and Shipping activities as needed to maintain efficient material flow. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe Shipping & Receiving area, including associated storage and mezzanine areas. Follow established receiving, inventory control, quality, and safety procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or equivalent required. One to two years of receiving, shipping, warehouse, inventory, material handling, or related experience preferred. Experience working with an ERP, MRP, shipping/receiving, or inventory management system preferred; Epicor experience is a plus. Basic computer skills with the ability and willingness to learn company software and systems. Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately verify part numbers, quantities, purchase orders, and shipping documentation. Ability to accurately follow written and verbal instructions. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with other departments. Forklift experience preferred; must be willing and able to complete company-required forklift certification. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The physical demands described below are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Ability to regularly stand, walk, reach, and handle materials throughout the workday. Ability to occasionally stoop, bend, crouch, kneel, push, and pull. Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to safely operate a forklift and other material-handling equipment as required. Ability to perform close visual inspection of parts, labels, documentation, and materials, including distinguishing colors when necessary. Ability to safely move throughout warehouse, receiving, production, and storage areas. WORK ENVIRONMENT This position is performed on-site in a manufacturing and shipping/receiving environment. The employee will regularly work in receiving, warehouse, inventory, production, and shipping areas and may be exposed to typical manufacturing conditions, including noise, moving equipment, varying levels of activity, and frequent movement of incoming and outgoing materials.
