About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Cardiovascular Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of one year of experience required License: Current RN License issued by the state or a current multistate compact RN License Certifications: Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association, ACLS from the American Heart Association Must-Have: - Cardiac experience - Stepdown/PCU experience - Familiarity with chest tubes and intravenous drips - Competence in the delivery of patient care - Ability to interpret EKGs and monitor rhythms Description: Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients. Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; notes all changes in physician orders for assigned patients. Assists physicians in examining patients and performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments. Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients, observes their physiological manifestations, and intervenes when necessary. Administers medications as prescribed and initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. Interacts with family and patients in sharing care plans during hospitalization and at discharge. Informs patients and families of hospital procedures. Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Delegates tasks to support staff. Performs other duties as assigned. This unit consists of a mixed cardiovascular floor with 24 beds, including step-down and medical-surgical patients. Candidates must have cardiac unit experience and be skilled in cardiac rehab, pre/post-procedures, and cardiac stabilizations. May be asked to collaborate with cardiac rehab, education, and discharge planning.
