Job Location (Short): Tacoma, WA, USA, 98421 Human Resources Business Partner The Opportunity Human Resources Business Partner at a growth-oriented downstream energy company Reporting to the site Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Business Partner supports the implementation of HR initiatives, partners with leaders and team members with day-to-day HR needs, and helps foster a workplace aligned with our mission of “Humbly Serving Communities” Key activities include: Serve as first point of contact for managers and employees for all HR matters. Be able to handle confidential and sensitive information discreetly and professionally. Foster trusting relationships with co-workers and cross-functional work areas. Be reliable and engaged in furthering organizational goals, demonstrated by maintaining high standards of personal performance, professional growth and attendance Talent Management – Ensure fair, consistent and focused recruitment practices to attract and retain an engaged, diverse and high performing team. Oversee the onboarding/off-boarding processes Compensation Administration – Review and update job descriptions. Participate in industry salary surveys in collaboration with the compensation team. Conduct compensation reviews and analyses for equity, job-leveling, and career path design. Work with corporate compensation team to assess and recommend compensation levels/grades for internal transfers, promotions, etc. Benefits administration – Respond to employee requests for benefits information or reports of issues with insurance, 401(k) or other benefit enrollments. Elevate issues to employee benefit administration for appropriate resolution and ensure timely follow-up/incident closure Employee Relations – Provide guidance, training, and insight for employee relations actions/issues. Coach and advise supervisors on sensitive matters in order to mitigate risk. Deliver employee relations services, including counseling, coaching and conflict resolution. Advise on disciplinary action strategy and prepare supporting documents. Conduct employee/workplace investigations Labor Relations – Maintain compliance with union Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). Administer all union hourly classification movements per contractual obligations. Coordinate, attend and document all company/union meetings. Support future negotiation efforts. Research, coordinate and draft grievance responses in a timely manner. Coordinate any agreed-upon actions resulting from meetings. Maintain a positive working relationship with representatives Leave administration – Administer employee paid and unpaid absences in accordance with Family and Medical Leave Act and Washington State’s Paid Family and Medical Leave. Engage in the interactive process for reasonable accommodations and administer return to work with or without restrictions Performance Management – Coach managers and employees on performance evaluation ratings, rating calibration, goal setting and goal review. Identification of high potential employees and opportunities for development. Prepare and track succession plans for key roles. Administer and create performance improvement plans Conduct data analysis to report on HR metrics and KPIs for better organizational awareness. Facilitate and/or participate in cross-functional groups to develop key HR initiatives to improve organizational performance Develop and maintain status of compliance of all federal, state and local laws, including Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, ADA, FMLA, ADEA, FLSA, and EEO. Additionally, ensure reporting and audit support to responsible agencies Develop and deliver HR-related training programs to employees at all levels within the organization, e.g., hiring/recruitment, harassment prevention, substance abuse, leave administration, etc. Administer required operational screening functionality and tracking (e.g., random drug screening, hearing conservation program, respirator fit testing, and physical clearances). Ensure timely reporting and compliance with responsible regulatory agencies Workers Compensation Administration – Assist in the design and administration of workers’ compensation procedures and program. Responsible for claims monitoring and administration. Communicates with employees, managers, insurance carriers, and medical staff on claims management and return to work requirements Coach and advise stakeholders on company policies and procedures across the organization to best ensure compliance. Interpret policies and procedures, identify gaps and draft suggested updates Perform other duties as assigned Note: This description is intended to give you a general overview of the position. Qualifications To meet the basic qualifications for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. A bachelor's degree in human resource management, business administration or related degree from accredited university preferred Minimum three (3) years of broad HR generalist experience in an environment in a hands-on service model required Competency in the primary functional areas of responsibility required Thorough knowledge of federal, state and local laws governing human resource principles and practice required Working knowledge of labor relations and union environments preferred Strong proficiency in MS Office applications (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, etc.) required The ability to handle confidential and sensitive information discreetly and professionally required ATS, HRIS and payroll experience with SAP SuccessFactors or Dayforce is a plus Conflict resolution and strong interpersonal skills, insight into group dynamics, empathy, and diplomacy & tact through difficult conversations necessary Proven ability to build strong working relationships with organizational leaders required Ability to be forward thinking and strategic with respect to HR processes and systems, creating a climate for change required Self-directed, organized, flexible and able to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment required Professional certification (PHR or SHRM-CP) is strongly desirable This is an in-office position in the Port of Tacoma and 100% on site with a 9/80 schedule About Us At Par Pacific, we own and operate market-leading energy and infrastructure businesses in logistically complex markets. Hiring Range The hiring range for this position is $76,000 to $129,000 plus 10% discretionary bonus. The candidate selected will be placed according to his/her skills and qualifications.
